We have 4-5 different species of wood peckers. Canaries, Cardinals, Blue Herons, King Fishers, Red Tail Hawks. I see the Horned Owls both day and night. We know the pair of American Bald Eagles are close when all the other birds disappear, and it gets real quiet. Here's a picture of one of the peckers.
Bats are not birds, but they are very interesting to watch as well.

We expect the starlings anytime.....when they show.....we suddenly have hundreds dive bombing. The finches are my favorites......we use the suet socks and there are times you'll see 30 to 40 birds hanging there......beautiful! Send them over to the southwest part of the state......we're ready! :thumbsup:

Sorry, I should of been specific, I meant at the humming bird feeders.

oh, mostly ants then...
Don't forget the bees.
I use feeders like Mousefield posted (post #11), only minus the bee guards. (my hummers can't seem to figure out the guards.)
The stupid yellowjackets I just thump in the back of the head when their not looking.
But one time we did have a huge amount of honey bees on one of them. So many you couldn't see the base of the feeder.

How much feed you guys go thru ?, we're up to about a quart a day.
The feeder on the woods side of the house they hit the hardest. Little over a day and it's almost empty. The other 2 not so much.
I'd imagine Kco is close to a gallon a day ?

We have Starlings year 'round. I saw my first Scissor Tail this morning, and the Purple Martins are back, so Spring should be here! Also noticed the pecans beginning to leaf out.

Will, I can get by with a quart and a half in 3 feeders for over a week here in the part of Texas I am now. When I was in Colorado, a quart lasted about 2-3 days in 1 feeder.

Around here, when the hummers get active, it is nothing to go through a gallon every 24-48 hours! Have to have multiple (3-4) feeders, as they are not good at sharing.
