Dont know if this counts but last night I was working on a trailer I realy need to finish and was daydreaming about tearing up some dirt so I grabed the keys to Mollie Ann and went out and cranked her up for a spin around the barn like I used to with my wife.....a long time ago when she was interested??? had a cig and went back to work on the trailer. jb

To my way of thinking, JOHN DEERE is a cult.

not unlike Harley Davidson ownership.

you know its bad when you can buy JD toilet paper to match the decor in the rest of the shytter.

I wonder how much "accessories" JD actually sells or is it just a marketing thing. I mean if you see the green and see the name plastered everywhere and you are in the market for a tractor, arent you more likely to visit a JD dealer just because you feel more familiar with them and when you see their stuff everywhere, you also feel like they are #1 in the market.
Even if they never sold one toilet seat or toy, its a good stategy. Same goes for Harley.

I went to see a Head Dr. with my problem,John Deere ,Jack Russells,Chevys,4-wheelers,guns.When I went in his office and saw his pictures and models of toys I realized I was normal. His next appointment was still waiting their turn 45 minutes later and looked at me when I walked out as though I had been healed. True story.

There is often an "unnatural" affection between men and their tractors. Same goes for pickup trucks. People have many strong opinions about these. I suppose if you find one that works for you, you stick with it, and adore it. If someone ridicules your tractor or truck and states that their brand is better than your brand people get very opinionated and defensive. In fact, many may have stronger devotion to their machines than their wives!

I think this is as close as I can get. But the term "tractor" is used very loosely. If a friend told me he got a new tractor and showed me a BX then I might say so where is the tractor. :D I'm sure a BX owner came up with the term SCUT. And I'm equally sure someone with a tractor like mine came up with the term CUT. Where I grew up in the fields on Mississippi, the smallest tractor was a 35-40hp. The next thing a farmer owned was a riding mower.

Maybe I'm more envious of those who I see here who are able to buy a $15,000 riding mower with a BH and FEL for a 3/4 acre homesite than I am of the actual "tractor" itself.

But a man could get hung up on a lot worse and more expensive things (I think) than something that's, orange, green, or blue and tops out at 12mph!! So let her (it) shine you M, L, B and even BX owners!!! (sorry I don't know the greene and blue classes).

And for the record, I don't own a Kubota shirt, hat or anything else. I do wash my tractor but I don't WAX!!! But to come out of the closet a bit I had a thought and did search the web for a "My other car is a Kubota" license plate cover.

Ah, I don't think it's that bad. I have a SuperGlide and I get a kick out of all the guys I know who just have to buy all the Harley crap; leathers, boots, black T shirts, hats, tattoos - everywhere, quit shaving, quit bathing etc. etc. I simply think they fell for the marketing ploy hook, line, and sinker. I have nothing Harley other than the bike. For tractors, me, my wife, and my kids just call them by their color or their brand. No affection or special attraction. Sorry, it's just a machine.
