You guys ever think a front 3pt will be as common of an option for CUTs just as front end loaders are now?

I know it's fairly common for larger 150+ hp Ag tractors to have them especially in Europe and I have found a few aftermarket manufacturers in our neighbors to the north that make them in Canada for snowblowers. Maybe it's just me but seems like if somebody came out with one it would have a possibility to really take off.

These are just some of the thoughts. Getting a closer cut with a finish mower would be easier, larger drum mowers could be used because you wouldn't need to offset and go smaller due to weight and one could run a tedder in follow is they wished. Down pressure would actually get a box blade or rear plow to function properly and could tilt hydraulically from the seat. Heck you could even run a tree spade if you wanted. Snowblowers and rotary brooms would function just as they do on rear 3pt. I would love having a front mount bush hog- no more worrying about shrubs pulling wires.

Heck if someone wanted even a makeshift loader they could use something like Pat's Easy mover and add an cylinder and have small loader for wood, dirt, bark, snow or whatever.

I know front mount gear implements are few and far between but most gearboxes on these implements have an access cover to attach from the back of them so I don't think it would be hard to transition to.

I think the arms of a front three point would be a weak link. Any significant load being pushed would buckle the hitch. Of course, enough steel & money could over come that objection.

Well, I have a tractor with ALL attachments in the front, so here goes....

Ground engaging implements like dirt plows, box blades, etc... are better off in the back. When implements in the front get stuck in the ground, the tractor tends to want to ride up over them, lifting the front wheels off the ground, breaking any 4 wheel drive traction on the front wheels and adding tremendous weight to the rear wheels, increasing their ability to crawl up over the front mounted implement.

For things like front end loaders, brush hogs, mowers, fork lifts, snow plows, snow blowers, post hole augers, cement mixers, trenchers, stump cutters, grapples, rotary brooms, etc... they tend to work better up front where you can see them, and they are highly maneuverable and easier on operator ergonomics, too.

I just not seeing horses pushing wagons and carriages around town, yet. Probably because pushing a rope and a chain makes less sense than pulling it. I'm only seeing mowers, brooms and plows in front locations. Only because users want to avoid trampling the material.

Not so weak...

But is a bit bigger than the average tractor here..

Great video.
Hard to believe they can plant in that muck but it seems to be working. It looks awfully wet.
If you would have shown that video to a famer 100 years ago he wouldn't have believed any of it was possible.

I suspect they would work much better with the lower attachment point of the front hitch compared to the high-up-on-the-tractor attachment of the loader arm mounted implements. Push them from a low point. Think "dozer."

Did you see how "flat" the tires are on the tractor pulling the plow and roto-tiller? I'm assuming that's an indication of just how heavy that equipment is???

Actually, you do see horses pushing wagons. They don't pull them. ;)

But the load is behind them, not in front of them.

Yes, that plow is heavy but those are big and wide radials likely inflated as low as possible to try to float through that muck. For example, my 18.4x30 radials get inflated to 5 to 7 PSI in normal conditions and at times look pretty flat. It's a guess but they might only have 15 PSI in them, maybe a little more.
