This isn't a blade you can get at Home Depot. It is a blade for cutting thick steel.

The way it goes through half and three quarter inch bar stock is unbelievable. It's almost as fast as a hand held torch or plasma cutter and it's a heckuva lot cleaner.

This was one of those projects that I had real high hopes of making a show piece. I bid the steel framework and went through pure heck with the city of Dallas on permits. The problem was the architect was the general and allowed the masonary contractor to basically run the job. I got out of there after my part was done promising myself to never step onto a job with that architect or masonary contractor ever again.

Some promises are kept forever. This was one.

However, all this framework was done by myself in July in Dallas a couple of years ago. The material was 4" 11 gauge pre-primed. All of the cuts were done onsite with the skill saw. I welded it up using 5P+ 1/8 and my Trailblazer.

I'm proud of my work. It broke my heart to watch a real idiot hide it with his.

The saw and blades made the work done in the field possible. I laid it all out on sawhorses with a speed square and soapstone. Welding up was easy because the fit up was generally right on.

Here's some photos of the build. It's hard for me to look at them because even after three years I still get mad.

Besides the clown's work it was a fun job because it had the stuff that makes work fun in it. It was mentally challenging, physically demanding, and came together well.

The reason for posting this one is to show that young/old guy/gal out there that wants to make something and doesn't have the tools he/she thinks it would require there are other options available.

It's a bonus when the road less traveled is paved.

Here's some pictures of the finished project. It looks good at a glance. And I am glad that I got involved because of the experience the build gave me.

The client was happy.

I wasn't.

"Huh?" LOL

I would rate the noise about the same I guess. It just don't stink as bad and the cuts are more expensive per cut of course.

However, when you look at the situation I think it's the most economical method. These are field measurements, field cuts, the other options like a cutting torch or plasma cutter aren't near as accurate.

James, it's good to see your voice again.

If anyone asks, when I grow up I want to be like James.

Thats what I was thinking about you Harvey. LOL
Finalist in Miller project is good stuff. Good luck..

I spent the day dusting off the plasma, welder and torch. Its been about 4 months sense my last welding day, so it was about time. I built a place to use my bender under the carport and I can take it in and out easy. Even dug a 4' deep post hole. Life is good... Seemed like a good time to check up on TBN.

I guess this means you're back in Princeton?

That would be good. It's about time TBN-Texas had another get together and your return would be more than reason enough.
