Re: wher r john deere\'s made

Most JD salesman don't say or act like that. Your purpose is to sell imported tractors linpat so please don't play sweet and innocent and try to put deere down over here to make your tractors look better.

JD has been a worldwide company for decades now. Currently Deere sells more equipment worldwide than it does in the US. Last year South America was the biggest buyer of new combines. Europe is the biggest buyer by a three to one margin on the 6000 series tractor. That's why they are made in Germany. The 5x03 series sells by a 10 to 1 margin compared to the US. Deere is smart enough to make tractors where the demand is and remain a strong global force.

Re: wher r john deere\'s made

Excellent point. Around here all the old farms have given way to subdivisions etc. etc. etc. From what I see while driving around, our interest in agriculture isn't what it use to be. If Deere had stayed put, they would have long been dead. Of all my family members, neighbors, friends, etc. I am one of two amoung these hundreds who have any interest in something as simple as gardening. Such seems beneath so many today. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Re: wher r john deere\'s made

So tell me linpat, what brand of tractors do you sell and where are they made? For that matter, where does the US dollar from the sale of those tractors sold here in the USA end up? I've read all kinds of posts about where deere's are made and the one thing that gets my goat about all of the answers that I've heard is that no one mentions the fact that Deere is an American company and when the money is spent on them some of it goes overseas, but most of it stays here in the good old USA. I have a Harley Davidson and I'm sure that some of the parts come from overseas but the majority of the money stays here,,,,and that's MY POINT! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Have a great week all!

At almost 7000 pounds, and pto horsepower of 65, I wouldn't call it a compact.

Re: wher r john deere\'s made

Good job RogerH! Please note that the 5000's made in Brazil are for Brazil. The same for Mexico. The 5x03 was made in India for the India market...to compete against Mahindra and the other India tractors. It competes well against them over there, so Deere brought it here to compete against the same tractors. 6000's are made in Germany because that is the heart of that hp market (80-120). Augusta also exports some of it's 5000's to South Africa and to Japan (for Kukje). CowboyDoc is also correct.....Deere profits stay here. Good point. The tractors are also designed here to fit our needs, not some other country/culture trying to figure out what we want here for features.

isn't this just an attempt to continue to back this facad of Deere as an "all american" company. Frankly I think that mantra is limited to their marketing dept. They have to compete globaly and this american notion can't carry weight if they are going to be competitive. Besides that, Kubota is actualy an American company with a corporate tie to Japan, so is Kubota manufacturing of america, kubota industrial corporation, New Holland is American company who is bankrolled by the Italians - but all of their factories, offices, and investments are made here. You can probably say the same things about AGCO. I just don't get why there is this need to hold Deere up in the spotlight when they clearly are not the company that they present themselves to be.

Surely you don't think that the profits stay in the USA.

Re: wher r john deere\'s made

These are all publicly traded companies - The profits are returned to the stock holders wherever they may be. Beyond this is the financial capital that is invested in local ecconomies and the people that are employed here. All of the big 3 have corporate offices, accounting, R&D, etc,etc all based in the US. They all do approximatly the same % of assembly and parts sourcing domesticly and abroad. Its a global business and in my mind its a bit of a lie to sell your-self as an all american business. MTD (mostly), Kohler and Briggs are probably the best examples of American production.

Re: wher r john deere\'s made

Sorry guys,

I need to post on this. Look at what's happening at GM today-too many of our kids (and us too) are standing behind the "quality" of Japanesse made Autos, justifying their purchases with a Mantra that was at one time true.

Today, that's not the case-American made cars ARE good quality, but the Media now hypes the Japanese Manufacturers. One of my relatives was a President of this glorious Country, and I for one do not feel that he lived, died and stood for what we are doing today.

Is this the legacy we want to leave our Grandchildren? If you look 30 years into the future it doesn't look pretty.

John Deere IS an American Company, with it's World Headquarters right here in America. The Tax dollars it pays to the U.S. Government pave American roads, creates American opportuniities. I personally will NEVER work for a Company in my Country that does not support Americans through it's Sales to Americans while it Headquarters are in another Country-narrows my Job opportunities, right? I am very o.k. with that-our Fathers before us fought for a reason, and I will stand (and/or suffer) for what they fought for-
