Where can I check serial number prior to purchase.

I'm looking at a JD 1025r, with loader and backhoe with 200 hours, on facebook marketplace. Is there any way to check the serial number for issues, either mechanical or financial to avoid any problems? I have the serial number.

Call your JD dealer and give it to them. If they are nice, they may help you.

Thanks, I should have mentioned that I have a call into them, but can't get through to a human and I'm going to look at the 1025 in 30 minutes.

You could contact local law enforcement to inquire about theft reports.

Thanks for your replies, I managed to contact the selling dealer in PA and verified that it was a clean sale. One minor warranty repair to SCV valve.
Still deciding if it's right for my son. It has the loader and backhoe for 21k, but he needs a mower deck and snowblower. The backhoe, while nice to have won't get much use.

You could sell the backhoe, and with the proceeds buy a snowplow and a used zero turn, which will do a better/faster grass cut job.

Yeah, we’re going to keep looking. He‘s contracted the plowing for his home and business for this year, so we’ll wait for a good package deal that fits his needs better. Missed out on two deals just today.

They’re asking $21k, and the dealer quoted around $24k for a new one. The backhoe could sit around for some time waiting for a buyer, and everyone is looking for top $$ for implements.
