Looking around the net, where can I pick up a 60inch rear snowblower without taking out a mortgage! I think 2800 for a loftness is nuts! I thought you could pick one up for under 2000. I would go for used...

The new 790 drained my account......
but that's ok!!!!

Speaking of nuts ... recently I priced a 42" snow thrower for my HD JD lawn tractor. 2400 installed.

Now, this is a mechanical, belt driven device that mounts on the front. It uses the same spring loaded lever for lowering and raising the deck to do the same with the snow thrower.

Teeewenty four hundred clams. Simply amazing.

In December of 2003 (7 months ago) I purchased a 60" Buhler Farm King unit for $1400, assembled, tested and delivered by my local dealer. There are two tractor dealers in my area that carry the Farm King line, the other shop was $1750 + tax for the same identical model and he would not deal down. The place I got my blower from started out about the same price but I beat them down to $1400 (and it was a pretty easy beating). They even hooked it up and tested it on an identical tractor that they had in their lot to make sure the PTO shaft was correct. When they delievered it they brought it right to the back of my tractor but, for liability reasons, would not connect the PTO shaft.

Farm King is made in Canada, it might not be the top of the line blower, but I have no complaints about a blower that threw snow all the way over the road.

I see 3pt models all the time here for under $1k (used) and as low as $600. There seems to be no shortage of them, at least during the summer. I don't have one yet... still debating about wheter I want a big one or if I would rather get a small front mount one for the 318 (garden tractor) and leave the rear blade on the 990.

The 60" NH 3pt snowblower I bought couple years ago is a Loftness. Total charge @ my local NH dealer delivered to my property (+50mile round trip) was around $2200. +$600 increase in couple years sounds too steep. Attached to a 25D this unit can blow a significant amount of snow up & away downwind. Upwind you create your own blizzard.
