To say that if it isn't OEM it isn't as good is bull. If that were true, then you wouldn't use anything but OEM for your vehicles, tractors, etc. Further, I didn't state that I wanted inferior products, I just thought the prices were on the high side, and was looking for a better source. A farmer here at work told me last night that they will get filters from NAPA. Lastly, my tractor is 1 month shy of 2 years old, and has 410 hours on it now.

I have a 1920.. the oil filter changes to a napa gold number.. so does the air and fuel.. but the napa # is the same prices as the NH one.. ( air filter and hyd filter are pricey.. fuel fitler and oil filter are cheapy.. ).

For the oil.. yep.. NH likes the oil... I use a generic 134d equivalent.. you can get it practically ANYWHERE. TSC sells a universal transdraulic oil that is NH 134d compatible.. Fina makes a tractor fluid that is equiv... so does napa.. texaco.. etc.. the list goes on and on.. 5 gallon pail floats around 25-35$ depending on when/where you get it.

My 1920 has had equivalent oil in the front axle and power steering unit since i had it. My older ford equipment like my 1954 NAA also uses the 134d oil for the hyds and tranny... the NH 134d is the new spec as the old 46xx series oils aren't arount any more.. and all cross to 134d.. even diffy if you want too.. But I've been running the TSC stuff.. for a couple years in it with no horror stories.

Incedentally.. most of those unit-tran-diffy oils are very broad and meet many manufacturers requirements.. like jd's.. etc.

Tractor Supply sells Fram hydraulic, air, fuel and oil filters for Ford & New Holland. They have a cross reference book in the store. Prices are reasonable and Fram makes a good product. Thats where I buy mine at.

I just purchased NH filters for my TC33D from local dealer (engine, fuel, trans, and hydraulic) for total of $76.98. I then called my local Bumper To Bumper auto parts store and had him quote prices of Wix equivalent filters. The Wix price was $55.60. I believe the Wix filters are of equal or better quality and $21 cheaper to boot. BTB could get filters next day. Next time I will get the Wix filters.

Just an FYI -- most of the OEM filters are made by FleetGuard. There are times that you can get the fleetguard branded filter cheaper than the OEM branded, other times its more expensive - but its worth checking.

Who makes NH oils? Who makes NH filters? I will tell you who it is, the one who will make it to their specs, for the lowest bid. As for warranty, if they insist on your buying their filters etc. they have to furnish them for free. I doubt if NH would want to go to court with any of the major filter makers on the basis that their filters were inferior. I stated in another place on here that I use Wix filters because I get them wholesale. They have worked very well for me. Anyone may use what ever they wish. I have used NH Ambra because it is as cheap as others of equal quality in my area. Again, here is a link to warranty information as it is by law.

I just came back from the dealer after picking up 10 gal of G134 Hydraulic oil, 1 Hydraulic filter and 1 fuel filter. I must say I thought I was going to have to clean my shorts when they gave my the total, $153.53 WOW@!

Is there somewhere else to get that stuff cheaper?

Generally, I like to use dealer filters and common repair parts for my NH tractor... though i do use non oem oils.

For instance.. I've had to have my tractor in to the shop recently for some repair work, and i know that the shop manager and parts manager know.. that i buy my filters, belts and many misc parts there. They treat me good, and are generous with telephone support when I have been broken down in a field in the past.

The oil, specifically hyd-tran oil, can get very expensive.. My large fords hold 40-50 qts UTF each... I buy either TSC or walmart UTF oil and have been running it for years, and change at hour interval or sooner based on calander.. etc

( wow... old thread.. i see this is all a re-hash.. )
