1*I'm not clear as to why placement of wheels has any bearing on why you would have to choose between fixed or removable side boards.
3*sure they are you can still load/unload a skid with a set of forks from the side either for or aft of the wheels/fenders.
Sames goes for loading/unloading dirt gravel etc from the sides with a loader or BH.
5*I'm not talking about a dump bed trailer just regular and tilt beds.
Why would you regularly haul dirt with a tilt bed ? Then i would have a 3 way tipper built: by placing the rear two corner hinges of the 3 way dump system, behind the rear axle, the trailer could dump left and right, and tilt to the rear...
If you're spending money on custom built anyways, i would want all three possibilities...
