Where can I get potted trees?

Be carefull ordering pines. They are cheap. And the package

I keep filling out the form but then forget to send it in. Which
is good since I'm really not ready to plant. The last time I
worked up a form I had "ordered" over 1,000 saplings......

Thanks for coming through for me again with great info. I know exactly what you mean about being careful with the form....I too get all excited thinking about how great it would be to plant lots of everything here and there....only to get the reality check when actually facing the "work" portion of the project....This time I'll try to be conservative....at least until my wife chimes in with her enthusiasm /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

STOP! DON'T show that site or form to the wife! Don't do it!
That is the mistake I made. "But dear, this wildlife package
has Dogwoods, Redbuds, Oaks and Hickory's. We can always
use more of those. And look how cheap the pines go for. We
can plant a heck of a border for nothing." said the CFO.

Notice the "We can plant..." portion of the conversation.
There ain't no WE when it comes to planting. It will be ME.

Just order the plants and keep quiet about where you got the
seedlings, how cheap they are, and how many species can be
ordered. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif Your back will thank you! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I think we will finally order some seedling this year. We have
been wanting to plant a bunch of pines on two lot lines and
this year I might actually get one of the lines ready for
planting..... Course I have been saying that for two years!

Ok, Dan, I'll take your advice. I'll not mention it til the trees come in, then invite her out for some "fun" in the fall weather!

Now, if I can only exercise similar restraint with the Stark Bros catalogue, etc in the berries, nut and fruit tree dept. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif I'm nopt even going to comment on restraining her with regard to flowers....I can hear it now..."can't you just stop working on those trenches long enough to prepare this one little acre for me to plant a flower garden?"

When I plant trees, and I have been planting a lot of trees lately, I use my rear tine tiller first. I till up an area about 3' round where I will plant and as deep as I can get the tiller to go. Then I scoop out the area with my shovel, plant, stake and mulch the tree.
