Where did this strap come from?

I have a BX23 and believe I have had to remove that strap for the airfilter. I could be mistaken, but it looks very familiar. One note worth mentioning is the 23 was plagued with an air filter bracket that vibrated while at idle, it was nortorious for cracking the airfilter bracket that attached to the engine block, the replacement was an upgrade that cured the issue, and may have been fixed on the 24 or at the very least later models of the BX24. None the less it may be worth a look to ensure your is not also cracked while there. Be sure to let us know where it goes.

Finally got around to taking a look in the battery compartment and sorry guys, it's not the battery strap (which you see is still on there in the pic). Can someone tell me or post a pic of where the air cleaners are? In the pic of that strap in my original post, it appears there should be 2 metal buckles of which one broke through the rubber.

I just went out and had a quick look around and the only rubber strap I can see is for the battery. But you have yours. The air cleaner mentioned for other models is actually molded as part of the radiator shroud on the BX24, no straps. I did not see any other places where it could have gone, I even looked for possibilities of my strap also having gone missing. Were threre any other implements used where you found it? Could it hold an owners manual or shield in place for another piece of equipment?

Okay so I have too much time on my hands, I just went page by page through the entire parts catalog. I found only one strap, and it's for the battery. After looking at the picture again, Are there any ATV or motorcycles that frequent where you found the strap? It looks just like my old Yamaha ATV battery holddown.
let us know what you find,
Dave

that what I thought. I removed my battery several times to jump my nieghbor car from my tractor since I couldn't access the posts.

I just can't think of a place where that strap goes. The air filter has its buckle, no rubber.

I am wondering if it came from other equipment that you have?

Yea, I searched any possible place on my BX24 as to where those metal buckles may have been able to hook on and couldn't see any.

ATV? hmm...good point, we have a little one that the kids use..I will go take a look on that..

yup = ATV is more likely... air filter, carburetor cover, seat, tool strap, light?

Did you check the toolbox? Its usually mounted under the seat (no BH) or on the rops (BH). The strap there falls off pretty easily and though mine looks a bit different than that maybe they're different on the BX.
