Where did you buy your used JD garden or compact tractor?

Dealer, I wanted to try AWS and was having trouble finding any, so looking on tractorhouse, fastline, machinefinder, and machinerypete, 99% of the ad are from dealers.
I did find one on CL and the seller wanted $800 more than the dealer did even after paying 7% sales tax. Had I not wanted AWS, I think I could have found a deal on CL.
I also bought at peak mowing season due to my JD 285 suffering a major break down, June. The parts I need to fix were NLA and I ended up finding them used several weeks later, after I bought a replacement machine.

The Tri county John Deere dealer down in Lapeer county. Had just what I wanted after looking for awhile. Its been a good machine.
I have bought a number of new mowers over the years both JD and other . My local JD Dealer will not deal anymore and it is low trade price and high buy price . Two years ago I thought I would trade my X-720 that I bought new it had a little over 600 hours and clean a good 90% tractor . The local dealer low balled me on the x-720 and ask a very high price for a new X-750 . I live in Indiana and have a computer so started looking and found a dealer in Ill with a lot of low hour used X-750 . After a call and talking to a good salesman he offered me more for my trade and a bunch less for the X-750 with only 26 hours on it . I saved over $2500.00 got a great tractor at a fair price .

Bought my first, used JD 140, from dealer. Bought my 2nd, used JD322, from dealer. Bought my 3rd, used JD455, from dealer. Bought my 4th, used JD2210, from dealer.
No particular reason. Price right. Product right.

I always buy used from the owner, dealers around here buy trades very low then sell at high retail. I don't need to pay a fortune for a dealer to run it through the shop when most only perform a quick functions check, hike up the price, and stick them on the lot.
I watch Craigslist, eBay, Fastline, equipment trader, etc. I have saved thousands of dollars this way, I could never afford the machine I have retail. You just have to do your research on great sites like this and know what you are getting into and what the problem areas on each machine are. Lastly be patient and wait for the perfect deal to come along. That's probably the hardest part.
On a side note I enjoy wrenching a bit and I'm a bit of a shade tree mechanic so that helps a lot. I will say I've been lucky and none of the machines I have purchased have had any major issues.
