Where do you keep your tractor?

Well, my Jinma 224 in Upstate NY gets to sleep outside. She doesn't like it but thats life. Second year now and still runs well. No complaints. Some of my nay sayer friends have stopped asking if it still runs.

I have put her up in the garage, I thought everyone would like to know. There was a little bit of rust starting around some of the metal. Besides she starts up without a hitch.

First of all as a recent first time owner of a 2425 I want to thank everyone for sharing their opinions / experiences on all subjects. Better to learn second-hand than first /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Tried to sneak my tractor into my attached 2 car garage, but my wife told me to "Get It Out Of There!!!". She didn't care for the strong diesel smell. Gonna be a long cold winter /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

My JM284 lives in an uninsulated, three sided steel shed. When it got to -10 around here (northern Nevada) last week, he was totally unimpressed. I installed a 250 watt Model 16 Wolverine heater, and at zero outside he fired right up, even without using the decompression lever (I know, Greg, but had to test it!). I do put a tarp over the hood, extending down past the engine, as an additional aid in keeping the engine/fuel warm with the Wolverine. Also, I burn number one diesel, and add about 1.5 ounces of Power Service to each 5 gallons.

Let me remind you that the primary reason for using the compression release with each start cycle - is lubrication. It doesn't take gravity long to return most of the engine oil to the crankcase. Turning the engine over WITH the compression released gets some oil back to the rings - BEFORE you start exploding fuel up there.

And when used on a COLD engine - think thick oil - it saves wear and tear on batteries and (expensive) starter motors
