In the 18th century, all the land around here belonged to the aristocrat living in the manor at the other end of the island facing my windows, le conte de NAJAC. The main farm house was built towards the end of the 18th. The landlord was an excentric who used to ride around on camel back. Until the poor animal caught a fatal pneumonia crossing the ford from the island in winter.
