Bingo, Right on the nose. We actually stayed at Hilton head which is only a hop and skip away from Savanah. What a beautiful place to visit. We loved the old houses and all the city squares in that part of the city. I wanted to visit the old forts. My wife is not into old forts. Sounds like a trip for myself someday.

Re: Where in the USA where the Robert\'s last week?

Jim,

I concur entirely with your assessment! We absolutely love Savannah!

We were down there a couple of years ago at the end of October, and we took the Haunted Cemetery Trolley Tour on Halloween evening. It was a blast! We're planning on going back this October and November to spend a whole lot more time down there. We even volunteered to work as camp hosts in one of the State parks while we're there. Might as well get paid (free campsite hookups) for staying down there! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

What else did you do while you were there? I don't remember the name of the place, but your picture looks like it was taken from the balcony of a restaurant we ate at. We had a fantastic crab dinner! Man, you've got to love that fresh seafood!! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

The restaurant was Lilly's. They did have some great Grouper Bites and a free Margarita to boot. We took the Old Town Trolley around town to see what was there to start with. We only had about 6-7 hours to be in Savannah this time around. We got off at River Street to do some shopping and walk around. Our base camp (Resort) was at Waterside on Hilton Head Island. We had a beautiful 3 bedroom suite with 3 full bathrooms, fully loaded with w/dryer/everything. This worked out great as the kids each had a room and bath. We also drove around Beufort and Buffton which are close by Hilton Head. We wanted to see the old houses around the area. We got to do some kayaking to see some Dolphins and wild birds on Broad Creek. I left the camera behind and hope to have pictures soon by email from another couple that was kayaking with us. What really shocked me was the price for a new house in these outter towns. You could buy a new house for under $139K. In my town that would run you around $250K minimum. This trip was mainly a beach trip. Our next trip down that way will be to stay in Charleston S.C. or Savannah, Ga. Hilton Head is a great place if you love the beach and like riding bicycles. They have the nicest beaches we have ever been on. There are bicycle trails all over the island. Rental was $18.00 for the week. $38.00 if you rode it in salt water. To get into the gated communities all you need to do is go up the beach and get off at any beach entrance inside the communities. That is where you will see some cheap 2-6 Million dollar houses. The beach houses are at the upper level of course. The South (Savannah especially) really prides themselves with being very hospitable and keeping the city clean. We are going back in the future for sure. There is just so much to see and so little time to do it all in when you work.
