Where is Normde??

Many of these fellows been on the Yanmar forums for over the last 20 years. Even before TBN. So some have come to know each other very well. Some even friends. Maybe not visually or physically . But most respected each other's comments.

I think it's pretty cool that someone had that much influence and someone you may have never ment can be missed.

Kudos to Normde. RIP.

Beginning to be concerned about Normde, anyone hear from him?

This was my original post #1 in this thread. It only came out of my genuine concern for someone I had never met but had gained respect for. I cannot apologize for having concern. I am sad that I may have offended anyone and I will miss Normde's presence here.

Malicious stalking of course is bad. Doxing or worse - swating, etc to bring harm IRL to someone you met online is evil.

However this interest in Norm by his brothers in this small Yanmar group is concern for a respected friend.

Many of us who have been here for years were welcomed by Norm. We've lost a brother.
Thank you. This is a modern day version of the old men sitting at the general store or "that gas station" in a small town. They ask about everyone that they know exists, gossip and the news is passed around to everyone, even if those only know of the person by name. Things like who had a baby, who dies, what illnesses people have or died from, who moved where and who sold what, or bought a new truck or tractor. My dad's side of the family is from a small rural farming community. This still happens to this day here. People know things about me that I never told any of them other than my cousins. I don't even live on the place but own and am the caretaker. But word travels among locals that know my family.

Thanks Aaron!! It sounds as though he may have moved on and went out quick with everything he posted on stopping the same day. Been reading his posts and even replying to them for 10-12yrs. so I agree he's like brother we all seem to care a lot about. That's why he stayed on here and Hoyes site for so long. RIP. my friend.....

As several have posted here, we were concerned for a friend.

I know his name and location.

His hometown newspaper last week ran a Legal Notice naming Executor of the Estate of (his name, which is unusual, so far as I could find unique in all the world).

Norm passed away shortly after his last TBN post.

May he rest in peace.

Thank you for finding that California. I don't think anyone of us here thinks any lines were crossed to find that information. Like has been said he is an acquaintance and a friend, even if we have never met him before. This gives us an answer to our question of genuine concern and kind of gives that closure we were seeing on this issue .

May God rest his soul and I hope he is in a better place now.

Thanks California for finding this out and posting here. I have read many of his posts since I have been on TBN and will miss him too.

Winston you did not offend me with your initial post, you were just being a concerned friend/brother to one of our members. I would like to think we are all better than to thinking otherwise.

RIP Normde.

Seems only 1 person had his nose out of joint over forum friends being concerned about another member.
My opinion, he had to have made an impression for so many to be concerned over his absence.
As for the guy who claimed stalking, do a search of your own name—in effect stalk yourself, you will probably be amazed at what you find about yourself online! Get over it and get a life!
For everyone else, I hope I might inspire half of the concern as has bern expressed for Norm.
Your concern for Norm, makes me proud to be a party of the community!
RIP Norm!

well, those saying it's none of your business aren't even a part of this small group of yanmar owners.
Probably never had a conservation with norm.

I don't see where it's their business what someone else does

I'm glad to know what happened as he was a regular here.
Thanks cal

Sad to hear Mr. Normde passed on. I was recently looking for the Yanmar Red paint color for a trailer I'm making for the tractor. His user name came up. Yes, he had provided much helpful info. Glad his postings live on and can still help others even now.

I've had a set back with the arm broken for the past 2 months. More annoying than anything. So much to do, yet reading these forums I know I'm not alone in the Yanmar owner world of work, fun and something old and new to do.

Winston, thank you for this thread! Should any of Normde's family ever find this to read, they will know he had touched people's lives indeed.

While I am not in the group of Yanmar owners, I do visit and sometimes comment in all forums and threads. That is the main reason that my Callsign, Name and Address are readily available with only a simple search on the internet. When I pass on, you will all be able to find out what happened to me. A little searching would also let you find my email, and many in the amateur radio community have my phone number as well. So when I drop off the face of the earth, you all will know what happened if you care.

Norm was an asset to the Yanmar owners, he will be missed around here, that's for sure.

He had many friends here that he never saw, but we will miss him.
