Anyone know a good online source for underground feeder (UF) wire? I'm looking for about 60 feet of awg 2/3 or maybe 4/3 to run to my garage. I've found lots of places that carry small sizes for outdoor lamps and pumps, but I can't find a supply house for the 100Amp service type cable.

I would prefer to buy the 1.5" PVC conduit and put THHN stranded in that. The individual wires pull easily, are better protected and easy to replace if ever it needs to.

I have never bought wire online. I would think the shipping would be costly on wire of that size because of the bulk.

I purchased mine from Hagemeyer (formerly Tristate)...they have stores in Bolingbrook, East Peoria and Rock Island

I can't tell much from the web site. Is their store retail, or do you need to be a contractor or electrician?

Cliff,
I have seen it at Lowes and Home Depot at odd times. Otherwise I'd go to an electrical supply hpuse.

You know, I hadn't even thought to look at HD or Lowes. I assumed they only carried the lighter stuff. I'll give that a shot.

I used 2/2/2/4 Al feeder...I know HD carries it, but it was actually cheaper at the supply house...YMMV /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I'd have to agree with the concept of running PVC with THHN. PVC is a snap to pull through, your wire will have some protection, and (so long as you run a pull string with it) you'll be able to run additional wire later. I have a 200' run to an outside 110 circuit that I needed to convert later to a 220 - boy was I glad I had the PVC... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
