Where to put winch?

Where do most people put a winch on the PT425?

I would like one mounted on the front so I could use the bucket or forks as a 'spade' to get a little more pull. The PT425 is so light that in many cases it would slide before what I was trying to move.

You could build a bracket and bolt on front or top of forks. To pull something big. I would jam the forks into the ground, and winch. Another way is to chain/strap the PT rear end to a tree and pull with the winch.

I'm thinking of using one mounted to a hitch receiver plate like this:

Then, I could move it to either front or back (assuming I have receivers) or use it on my truck...

The forks sound like a good idea for planned projects but many times when you could use a winch your not going to have the forks with you. You could chain the rear of the tractor, just make sure the chain and winch are not stronger than the tractor. I would hate to be a mile out in the woods with 2 halves of a PT,lol.

What I carry in the tool box of my landscape trailer, is a 12 volt winch mounted to a portable plate with adjustable chains so I can attach it to whatever is handy. Also have a small car battery in case I am not near a veicle. I used it just last week to get my Walker mower out of the mud.If you could find a place on the tractor to carry a setup like that, than you could winch heavy stuff without using the PT as your anchor. For lighter stuff and for getting the pt unstuck, you could still chain the winch to the tractor. Make up some longer wires and you would not have to carry the extra battery.
