I noticed my first ad for Zetor in "Small Farm Today" and was really impressed by the footprint. The ad said they have been around since 1946. Were they under another name?

I went to their website and the one thing I couldn't figure out was whether the 4 wheel drive models are only the largest tractors or could I get one in the 40-50 HP range.

I need one with a FEL, blade and mower and maybe a tiller.
Anyone had good luck with this machine.

We live in an area that has some steep hills so weight and stability are important to me.

Thanks.

I own a 55 PTO horsepower Zetor tractor with cab, with 4X4, and a loader, and I like it very much. Zetor tractors are a very heavy tractor for the PTO horsepower compared to other brand of tractors, and they also are cheaper to buy.

I don't know for sure if Zetor tractors have always been called Zetor tractors since 1946, or not, but I think they have. If you check on the internet, there are a lot of older Zetor tractors that has been used for years. I think that Zetor started selling Zetor tractor in the United States in the 80s, but I am not sure of the exact year.

Yes, it would be hard to go wrong with Zetor. Tough, easy tomaintain, and well built. They are good tractors and they have been around for a long time. I wish I had one myself.....

Welcome to TBN!

Zetor has been in mainly european markets but has also has been a subcontractor for other well known brands internationally. This gets you service & support as well as parts distribution patterned after the "Industry leaders."

One big difference is Zetor is still vertically integrated so you are buying a Zetor engine, transmission, frame, etc. most manufacturers source major components & simply assemble. Both business models have pro's & con's I'm just pointing out a distinction /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I've had a Zetor 4341 for a year & a half with no issues. The tractor has exceeded my expectations and dealer support both pre & post sale has been excellent. I have slopes approaching 100% weight at 10,000 lbs & 1st gear low range is 0.95 MPH @ 2200 RPM (PTO is 2000) probably works for a tiller /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

When looking for a tractor be sure to figure total costs including beyond warranty parts as well as depreciation (if you intend to trade often.) Compare pricing with something simple like a service of parts manual. Look at your local market for what it values, some have compacts on fire, others value utility class with cabs.

Take a look around this site & www.zetorworld.com post specific questions & you will get answers /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Happy tractor comparing /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Be forewarned however that the master of this site http://www.zetorworld.com/ is a Dtuch Zetor nut named Renze, so..... /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Zetors are overly-buily and underpriced machines. If you've got a dealer close, or atleast access to support, then pound-for-pound they are likely the best tractor one can buy believe it or not.....

It is kind of hard for me to really understand your post about Zetor tractors. You stated that Renze is a Dutch nut at www.zetorworld.com, and that Zetor tractors are overly-buily, and underpriced machines (did you really mean Zetor tractors were overly built, and underpriced machines, or was there a typing error in your sentence). Also, you stated that if you have a dealer near, or access to support, that pound for pound Zetor tractors are likely the best tractors that a person can buy. So, if I am correct about your post, you like Zetor tractors, and think they could be the best brand of tractors to buy, but you don't like Renze the Dutch nut at www.Zetorworld.com. Overall then, you really like Zetor tractors, but you don't care anything about Renze the Dutch nut at Zetorworld.

If I missed something about your post on Zetor tractors, that wasn't correct, please reply, and set me straight.

I think what JoeinTx meant was that Zetor tractors are well constructed, heavy machines for their HP and size. Compare them to other brands and you'll have to jump up considerably in HP to get equal weight. This means that a smaller Zetor may perform as well as a higher HP other brand because it can better get its HP where it counts, to the ground.

As far as his comment on Renze, I think he was just sayin' that Renze is a Zetor fanatic and an all-around nutty guy. No slam intended, 'tho I could be wrong...

Oh, Renze's fine. He's a little over zealous at times, but he's got a nice website. I've poked fun at him and I've asked his opinion on tractors as well....so, no problem with him.

As for Zetors, I like them just fine. Consideirng all that you get with one, they're hard to beat. Like I said, I don't own one myself but I've spoken to a lot of people who do and I've been around a couple. However, I do wish I had one and if my little part-time tractor biz ever really takes off and I need to upgrade, a Zetor will be at the top of my list.....
