Re: Where\'s Mr Earthforce these days?
Darin,
I'm still around. I've seen (and appreciated) the comments about my "tractoritis" and "Earthforceitis", etc. I've been through a lot of things in the past months, some that just kept me busy, some that were very trying personally, etc. Just like life (and death) for everybody else.
But I'm still "Earthforce'in'". It's still unquestionably the best machine for my needs that I've seen yet. I'm still waiting for the Earthforce/Bobcat/Ingersoll-Rand thing to settle out to see how much support I'm actually going to get with my "one-of-a-kind" machine. So far, the preliminary indications aren't very good. I've gotten a fair bit of talk and very little action. But I can squeak very loudly when the wheel needs greasing, and will do so if it becomes necessary. For now, I'm just trying to be patient - not my long suit. The problems I've had are pretty minor overall. About the only one I've had that they haven't fixed is with the flexible exhaust pipe that connects the turbo housing with the muffler. When the engine torques up, it pulls the pipe out of the fitting and I start getting exhaust in the cab. Not too much problem in the summer, but now that it's winter, it's getting ugly and I don't fancy carbon monoxide poisoning.
That issue aside, the EF-500 continues to be amazingly capable. It will do so much more than a standard tractor can with the same amount of horsepower that it's unbelievable. I haven't made any more modifications, though. I haven't needed to, But there are a few on the radar, I think.
