I am going to use the complete Scott's program on My lawn this year.

I am in a quandry as whether to buy a boom sprayer or an aerator as I can get one not both at this time.

I am thinking by using the Scott's I may not need a sprayer this year as I already have a spot sprayer.

What is the general thoughts from all You lawn experts?

Aerator or Boom Sprayer? which way would You lean?

I have both attachments. Since I got the Core Aerator I use it more than the sprayer. I saw in another post you were looking at an aerator that had water tanks. Up here where things freeze during the winter I would not want the water tanks. My Core Aerator is a First Choice. I have not had a problem with it. I have not heard of a complaint on them here on TBN. Check out this thread. Click here Price on these Aerators is a lot less than the one your are looking at. You may have enough money to purchase both items with the savings. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Thanks Ron
You can empty the ballast jugs on the Turfco unit so No Problems as far as freezing.

No, I won't be able to afford both as the sprayer equipped the way I want it is more than the aerator.

The sprayer is around $1400.00 with a 10 foot foldable boom, Hypro 6500xl " Silver Cast" pump an 8 way valve to isolate sections of the boom in any configuration to the liking

Hand Gun(quick disconnects on everything) with a root injection attachment for the tree fertilization. Boom would more than likely have AI TeeJet nozzles ( 7 on 20 inch spacing) I know it is pricey but that's what I want , only trouble is which one.( I am leaning toward the aerator)

I would love to have both at once but the CFO says one and one only. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

You can RENT an aerifier/aereator, but to my knowledge, no one rents sprayers. BUY the sprayer, rent the aerifier. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

And then explain to the CFO who's in charge there!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

After that, nove all your worldly belongings to the garage..... /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I don't like living with My Kubota that Well /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I in fact just got off the phone with a rental center checking prices on that just before I logged in.

I can rent a power core aerator for $59.00 a day .
I think I can get by with that for this year and buy an aerator next year /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
Sounds like a plan to me.

I have both attachments, use on my lawn and client lawns. Although the sprayer I have is a "cheapie" it seems to work well enough to get the results I need in both environments. (tow behind 15 Gal., 8 foot pattern with spot hose, 12 volt pump. tow it behind a restored C.C.1000) My aerator is also a tow behind J.D. 48, several years, lots of lawns old. Use C. blocks for ballast works like a charm for me. I have utilized rental units many times in the past, always seemed to want to go too fast for my taste. Also, I like sitting on the tractor as opposed to being yanked around by the "rental beast." I have not yet found a need for a 3 pt. power unit but have seen them in action. I think if you have a lot of turf to aerate and can't do it in ideal soil conditions it's the way to go?
