which backhoe?

I think the 448 gets you more in the long run--upgrade to bigger machine, resale, commercial use if you decide to etc. I found that the 448 was only about 1K more than the 447 (two dealer prices).

will start the callin. i still need my mid pto/rear scv installed by dealer (wasnt in when machine was ready) should i have the dealer install the backhoe or tackle it myself? is the rear scv enough? or do i need another hydro out?

You'll need the Power Beyond circuit installed to operate the backhoe.

If the dealer is already slated to install the 3rd rear SCV -- let them do the PB and the hoe at the same time.

I don't know what kinds of trees you have or the size, etc. of the stumps; but it's a good thing to have the extra power when you come up against a work project that requires it -- than not have it.

Then you'll be plunkin' down that extra $1K for a hoe rental...

JMO.

447 advantages
- trailering
- cost
- light enough to put on a dolly and push into a corner in the pole barn

448 advantages
- stronger hydraulics
- more reach
- works on 3x20 and 4x20 series
- worth 50% more money at the scrapyard

I have the 447 and am happy with it.

Either way, I think weight in or on the tires makes a huge difference. Helps a lot with the down force (Think of the difference between a 200 pound man jumping on a shovel and a 80 pound kid). The 447 hoe can drag my tractor pretty easily.
