Which block heater???

   / Which block heater??? #21
Please post.:D

I spent the first 56 years of my misspent youth in Alberta!:D :D :D

The frost plug[name is a misnomer] type are actually easier to install and fit in most cases.

The lower radiator hoses of many vehicles would make for a very large diameter heater insert. This coupled with twists, turns and very limited lengths can make things difficult for installation as the hose type must be installed in a level run with the heater itself properly vertically oriented.:D :D

Coolant hoses will deteriorate over time heater or no heater.

My tractor's cooling system works on the thermosyphon principle. No thermostat. When heating the coolant will circulate throughout the entire cooling system heating all the engine components. Some heat even manages to get down to the oil.:D Put them in upside down like the dealer mechanics did and they do not work!:D

My truck has the frost plug type heater. There is a small bypass around the thermostat. It too will circulate the coolant throughout the entire cooling system heating everything just like the hose type with exactly the same results.:D

In theory the hose type should be more efficient as it sits lower in the coolant system?  This could only be verified by proper testing.:D
