well guys...the dealer said he didn't have the 53" in stock so I didnt want to wait for him to order one and went ahead and stuck with the 49"....I think it"ll be enough bucket for the kind of things I'll need it for...they got the FEL installed today and I went and looked at the 49" and it was actually bigger then I thought...it does cover the whole front end and sticks out past each front tire....:)

But... is it wider than the REAR tires. If it doesn't, then you won't be able to use it next to a vertical object (wall, side of your cut while digging, etc.) for more than a partial tractor length before your rear tires get into the vertical object.

^^ exactly, a small bucket is the worse thing in my opinion.

My new 2520 was delivered last week. I went through the same thing regarding which bucket to get. Originally when I made the deal, I left it with the 49", but after reading a lot of posts here, decided to upgrade to the 53".

I'm very glad I upgraded. The 2320 & 2520 are fairly close in dimensions, and to me, the 53" bucket "suits" the size of the tractor perfectly. Not too big, and not too small. I was at the dealer just as they were installing the loader, and the original 49" bucket was on the floor while the 53" was on the tractor. The 49" looked a lot smaller. Even the depth appeared to be a little shorter on the 49".

Many post here say the 2320 will have no trouble handling even the 61". Although I haven't seen a 2320/2520 with a 61" bucket, I think the 53" just suits the machine nicely, and you have less width to worry about bashing into things.

I'm not sure of the exact rear tire width of the 2320, but I know the 53" bucket is just barely outside the rear tire track of the 2520.

My opinion.....go with the 53"......you'll be happier in the long run.

There are three buckets for the 2x20 series:

49, 53, 61

They are all "materials buckets" and none is HD.

I had a 2320 with the 53" bucket. It handled it with no problems whatsoever. If I had it to do again I would have gotten the 61" bucket. If you can't lift its contents dump some out and try it again!

When I got my 3320 I got the 73" HD bucket. I advise getting the biggest bucket you can.

Rob

ps: I've lifted the 3320 bucket full with stones, no problems.

Wonder why my 61" is considered heavy duty.:confused2:

Greg,
You can check, HD buckets have reinforced sides and bottom. The top portion is completely enclosed also. On the material buckets the top lip is just an 11 ga. plate and is not boxed in. with no reinforcement of the sides.

Rob,
That is the way my bucket is made.
I couldn't find a decent photo, but this one kind of shows the sides. The top is completely boxed in also.
Brrrrrr, what a picture to post. Almost forgot about this kind of weather.:)

You have a HD bucket. Must be the 61" bucket is different than the 49 and the 53. I hadthe 53 andi saw the 49 too, both are materials buckets without reinforcements. That's the one you want, for the little you lose from the extra weight it's still worth it in my view.
