Which coolant?

I put this in my B3200. Green stuff was in it originally. Drained and flushed with water a couple times put this in. This is more red/orange color, formulated for diesel engines. Prevents cavitation around sleeves.View attachment 3582129

Even though this excessive coolant, I've been using this since I did my first coolant flush 15+ years ago. Holds up well and it keeps the inside of the radiator clean, and it keeps the water pump seals lubed. So I can vouch it does work well long term, at least in a BX2200 that does have hot suppers occasionally.

Coincidence that I just did a full service on my BX two days ago and one of the items of interest was doing a coolant flush, and this post.

Very pleased with this coolant.

For diesel engines, run the cherry/pink color.
I switched to that in most of my engines for anti-cavitation and long life.

Have you bothered to look and see of your engines have pressed in liners or liners seated against 'o' rings and in direct contact with coolant?

Heck, you can use Jack Daniels as coolant ina dry linered engine if you desire....

Most owners are very lax in changing coolant but it's important to change it every couple years anyway. The heat-cool cycles of antifreeze depletes the additives in it.

I've never done a coolant and oil analysis on my Kubota, but I regularly do them on my diesel truck to keep tabs on any potential issues. Diesels are extremely hard on coolant and oil. Ounce of prevention is a pound of cure I guess. ;)

A few years ago, I did a routine coolant analysis on one of my diesel rigs, and found the EGR cooler was failing. By the look of the coolant and basic proportion checking, you'd think there was nothing wrong. But nope, the test came back with slightly elevated amounts of combustion by product and soot. None of which should be in coolant. Took the EGR off and did a pressure test on the coolant ports and sure enough wouldn't hold pressure for 30 minutes. Nipped it in the bud before it made more work or caused a serious leak.

I rely on Blackstone Labs for spectroscopic analysis but I do every other change. Coolant as well in the tractors and diesel truck. Fords are notorious for sealing ring failure in the oil / coolant heat exchanger.

I used to use Blackstone, but I changed to Polaris (Cummins) for a while now, as they have sub-24 hour turn around times after receiving the sample.

Everyone seems to have their own opinion on both labs. I just use what I feel like is best for me.

At work, we used Cummins for analysis. I don't have an issue with Blackstone's turn around time but I agree, they arent the quickest around and they just increased their analysis cost.

I buy my Cummins test kits right from the local Cummins dealer. I buy in bulk to have them on hand and they give me a slight discount at the same time. It also goes into Horizon for each unit. Helps me keep tabs on things.

Only thing I don't like about Horizon is the interface is clunky and confusing sometimes.

It's my understanding that most Kubota engines are parent bore-i.e. no sleeves.
Just the cylinder bore in the block.
