Which Engine Best, Honda or Kawasaki?

The M48 is offered with a Kawasaki or a Honda engine. I have read on another forum about problems with plastic timing gears on the Kawasaki engine. Does the Honda have any similar achilles heels?
Anyone with personal experience with either of these engines?
Any dealers seen more problems with one over the other?

I don't know what a M48(Honda) is (ztr ?),but my 2003 JD-GT235 has never given me a lick of trouble with a 617 V TWIN air -cooled 18 HP Kawasaki motor(over 400 hrs).
I believe when they first came out Kawasaki had trouble w/the plastic timing gear issues and they quickly corrected it.
I have no personal experiences with Honda engines.

I'm pretty partial to all my Honda GX engines. Start easy and keep going. I have heard good things about the Kaws though. I'm sure they're just as good...afterall they put 'em on Toro mowers.
