Buying Advice Which is tougher GC2400 or Mahindra 2216HST

I will look for Barlows info now and thanx guys. The reason I was looking at the 24-26 hp was because I will be using it for lawn work too and I dont want anything too heavy for my septic tank or leach bed. If I could go a little bigger I would but I dont want to damage my septic field. And I do need a 4x4 for my steep yard... I rolled my 2wd 3 times in 12yrs. I dont heal as fast anymore!!!

With weight being your number one concern, check out Kubota, they make a very good tractor that is known to be a little lighter than most others.

Here's my two cents. I recently sold my Kubota L3710 because it was too big and needed a small but powerful tractor. Originally I went to Kubota and loved the BX series. The dealer wasn't dealing or calling back so I kept looking. Looked at NH 21hp and 25hp but they just didn't feel right. Tomorrow I'm going to look at the MF GC2400 & 2600. From spec sheets they look comparable but I like that the MF has the brake on the left side and it seems to have better lifting capacity. Also, the tractor is made by Iseki, a japanese co. My feel is that their diesel engine is similar in quality to the kubota engine. Cons would be and I'll see tomorrow, that the seat sits higher than the kubota throwing off the center of balance.

All in all I don't think we'll go wrong with either MF, Kub., or a JD and it's up to personal preference.

I went and looked at mahindras today and was impressed but did not see any 2216, they had a 2816 I like the all around use but the MMM was really not made to take off and on. Dont get me wrong you can do it, it just is a hassel the way it was explained to me. The sales guy said he would advise a pull behind finish mower but I will try to find a 2216 before I go make a final decision.

Now I am leaning towards a BX25 the dealership here has 3 for a price of 16500 which is 2000 less than the GC 2610. They both have MMM for about 2000. The only I dont care for is on the BX the throttle has to be opened up for the hydraulics to work, not so on the GC. Why is that?? Is it a safety thing, weaker hydraulics, or just not a big deal at all?? I feel that they both have a good reputation. But which is better for the money? I dont know if the Massey is worth that much more cash, I realize the 2610 has more hp... but is it worth 2000 more?? Thanks for all the useful info.

Hey wacky. I tried to deal with the mahindra dealer in st. Albans but he wouldnt even cone close to the price i got at lebanon tractor. This is in abington va and saved me 2000 on my tractor. I got a 2816 4x4 with fel for 15500 out the door including insurance and 48 months no interest.

Yeah, he wanted 22500 for the same thing w/ a backhoe!!! I since have been looking hard at Massey.
