Kubota L275
Hey guys. Need some help in picking out a rear finish mower for my Kubota L275. It has a PTO of 23hp. I am moving to a house with a much larger yard than I currently have been mowing. I will be mowing 3 acres every week. It is level gound without trees. I would like a 6' mower but I'm concerned if my tractor can handle it. This will be my first purchase for this type of attachment. I do not know which brands to avoid, or which ones to pursue. I live in Vilonia, AR 72173. Any advice would be appreciated?

John

If you mow every week, you may get by with a 6 ft. The best choice may be a 5 ft. We have the First Choice and Phoenix (both made by Sicma in Italy) You can'[t buy a better finish mower. 5 Ft $1395, 6 ft $1895. Anti Scalp wheel is optional and cost $100. Ken Sweet

With a level lawn and mowing weekly, I'd go with a 6' mower. I had a 5' mower behind my 24 PTO HP Deere 790 and it could have easily ran a 6 footer.
So now, it's just a matter of how much you want to spend. RFMs aren't cheap...and they get more expensive the bigger you go.

I have experience with Befco...great mower, but not the least expensive. Had two (that 5' unit and my current 7' mower)...both have provided outstanding service.

Ken sold me mine. I'd highly recommend that RFM. I know Kioti liked it enough to put a decal on it and make it their mower.
That the color pretty much matches your 'Bota is a freebie.

Ken is right on. I do have a Woods 72" that I run behind my B3200 which has just a little more HP then yours. I cut about the same 3 acres and the tractor is hardley working, you should be good for either the 5' or the 6', but as you said no trees==6 ', go for it.

You should be fine with a six foot finish mower
I had a JD 4200 (21.5 pto hp) with a 6 foot mmm, that I used for seven years to mow 3 acres with some 25 degree inclines. Never had any power issues but did occasionally have some traction issues.

Did you look at a King Kutter RFM-72? It's made in America too... so that's a plus. You might check it out.

This is a picture of a 5' model, but the 6' model looks the same, just wider.

If was going to buy a new finish mower, it would either be a Landpride, Bush Hog, Woods, or a Phoenix (made by Sicma in Italy). Any of these are the best brands on the market today. I personally like the Landpride finish mower best. But prefer the Bush Hog rotary cutter over any other brand out there.

I don't need a finish mower because I have a zero turn mower. I'd like to buy a used finish mower one day just so I'll have a "option" to choose what I'd like to cut the grass with "this time." So, if I ever buy a finish mower, I'll search for a used mower that may need a little work done to it.

Why do you write "Any of these are the best..."? Do you have personal experience in using all of those brands? Or any (since you use a zero turn mower)?

I agree with travis R. I have a MF 1040 and a Woods 72" finish mower. works great. I mow 3 acres. But, I also have a Kubota ZD 21 60" mower and I used the finish mower 3 yrs ago just to play with the tractor. If you want to mow and get the job done, the z Turn will do 3 acres in about 1.5hr...lot more time with the tractor and still have to trim. Anyone need a used only 4 times almost new woods finish mower? The finish mower is nice to have in a emergency but if want to mow and GET Done , then a z turn is way to go!!
