Having just made the move from a cub cadet SCUT to a JD CUT I can personally attest to the rapid depreciation once it leaves the dealer's lot. Having looked at a lot of used Mahindra's and Kioti's over the last few months they seem to depreciate pretty quickly as well.
You might be able to work that to your advantage. If you have a little time, keep an eye out for Mahindra 3215's or Cub Cadet 7532's (which are identical machines manufactured by Mitsubishi). There was a like new cub cadet 7532 with loader on tractorhouse a couple months back for like 14.5 as I recall.
Happy shopping.
$8000 saved up front covers a whole lot of resale value difference. Oftentimes I see people talk about resale values, but it seems pretty rare that someone has actually resold a machine. Oftentimes they have traded the machine in, and trade-in values and resale values are two different animals.
What I see in the marketplace is a huge void in the used Mahindra market created by the lack of used machines. A search at Equipment Trader Online.com-Search Over 35,000 Listings to Buy or Sell New and Used Equipment shows 117 ads with Mahindras, but only about half a dozen are used. It's tough to judge resale on such a small sampling.
