Rotary Cutter Which rotary cutter?

Hello all,
I am looking at purchasing a L4330 and would like to know what size rotary cutter to buy. I have some brush up to 2" diameter and think I woluld like a medium duty cutter. Is this a good idea or should I get a standard duty one.

Hi Robert,

Mostly all medium duty rotary cutters = 2” cutting capacity…

However with ~34 ½ PTO HP… you are right on the border between 5’ and 6’ sizes… If most of it’s “life” will be true brush hogging 2” woody stuff… stay with the 5’ size… If mostly wide open field grass to maintain and keep down… go with the 6’

I’d go with the md rotary cutter no matter what the size you decide on, for your additional money you will get a more durable deck and side skirts, heftier gearbox and driveline, thicker and wider cutting blades…

Lastly you may consider getting at least “front deck” chains for your protection and both front and rear chains if you in a close residential area… especially getting into cutting bigger stuff…

If you want to cut 2" stuff all the time you better have a 85 HP or better gearbox.

Thank you for your advise. I will look for a 6' medium duty rotary cutter. The dealers in my area sell mostly woods and landpride. Would the Woods 720 model be a good choice?
