Which Style Trailer to Get?

Sounds like what I need as well. Now only I can find one that will haul 4000 pounds and 25 feet length. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Unlike Gary, I'm a big proponent of my beavertail 20' 10K trailer. I have the front mounted 10K spring jack, the ramps fit nicely underneath the trailer, the frame is sprayed with Line-X coating (no rust, scratches, or gauges there), the deck is treated, and with the ramp stands in the back, I can backup and on without causing movement or problems.

The price was right, too, so I couldn't complain. This trailer was made by ABU and sold to me through a fellow I met at the Minnesota State Fair who sells trailers in Fergus Falls, MN. I have attached a picture - the difference is mine is Line-X coated and therefore the fenders look a bit different.

Good luck!

-Bob

What about the drop axle and the beavertail? If I get a tilt trailer, do I still want a beavertail? And... do I want a drop axle or is that mainly for loading cars with low clearance. I do not want my ground clearance compromised, in case I am on some rough roads.
I am avoiding ramps, as they will have to be moved between
the front wheels and rear wheels.

You really don't need a beavertail with a tilt bed. With the bed tilted the net effect of the beavertail is already there. If anything, something more like a ducktail might be more appropriate. That's what most roll back recovery beds have. If you look closely at them, you'll notice a very slight upward angle on the back few feet of the bed.

The tilt is the right way to go. After getting one I will never go back to ramps. Plus, the tilt gives you a lower load angle also which is good for a tractor with a mid mt. mower (I know from experience). My trailer also has the tires outside of the deck which gives you a lower deck which is a plus and in my case, I can use 235's as tires without a problem also, because of the wider axles.

Lots of variables! Future uses, gvw, costs, tow vehicle, just to name a few.Always if you can,go a little bigger for gvw and length. Loading,go either tilt (most expensive) or ramps. Do not go with wire mesh ramps, reason being they put to much stress on coupler when loading a heavy machine. Equipment trailer ramps have a support leg to take the stress off the coupler when loading. A longer trailer gives you flexability in adjusting tongue weight by repositioning tractor/implement load.Another nice feature to have are "D" rings, nice for running tie down chains through. I haul L3010 Kubota with various implements at times. I have a 10,000 gvw 18' equip. trailer. Also super heavy duty trailers also weigh more, the avg.weight empty is around 2400#-2800# empty.Add the weight of tractor/implement,the weight jumps up quickly, enter the tow vehicle capability.Well just a few facts, good luck in whatever you choose!

I have been wondering if anyone has hauled a tractor on a dump trailer? I was wondering if I could fill several needs and move my 6500lb 6' wide machine on one. Any suggestions? Farmyid
