"shady1701 --- Do an oil test and watch the rsults!"
My reply in "King of Oils"---- a single oil analysis or even several after switching around oil brands does nothing to proove anything. Your control of the experiment is lost. It is the trend--the TREND--that oil analysis is useful for not direct back to back comparsison of different oils in the SAME engine. That is a misuse of the oil analysis concept that will draw erroneous conclusions /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif. I agree with the other fellow, Mobil 1 is known to have very strong detergent/suspension/dispersent properties/capacity for everything commonly found in an engine other than LEAD, which should not be found in modern fuels.
I am not trying to embarrase you GXER or belittle your thoughts but I think your concept is flawed. Mobil/Delvac 1 may not be the best oil and the value of synthetics may be widely dissagreed upon but Mobil 1 is a quality oil and it has been prooven over and over again in various studies some of which have been referenced in these recent threads. Even in the case it is not the very best the difference between it and the other presumeably better synthetics is minor especially when it's fairly low price and wide availability are considered as well.
It really is weird this oil stuff, GXER won't use Mobil ever and I would not use anything but, amazing the differences in opinion /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif.
I have used Mobil 1 in VW bug engines, various motorcycle engines, small power equipment including Briggs and Stratton, air compressors (in the compressor), dune buggies, several boats way back and a variety of cars and trucks including Fords, Toyotas, Subarus, Jeep, Renault, and VW Vanagon and now a Kubota tractor(s) . Some of them were tracked with oil analysis for trend, none ever showed unusual signs of wear or indicated anything amiss with the oil. I have also used, Shell X100, Exxon Uniflo, Castroil and --oh--I cannot remember anymore and I was not displeased with any of them--except for the Arco graphite and the Qauker Stale and I don't think much of Pennzoils lowend products either. Valvoline looks good too, especially the new wear max stuff or whatever they call it. Lot's of good products, diffucult to find something really bad (other than Quaker State).
Mobil 1, factory fill in Aston Martin, Dodge Viper, Chevy Corvette, Mercedz AMG, Ford Cobra R, Porsche, meets M111 Europeon standards for triple pass testing, meets/exceeds all API and all known manufacturers requirments (whether they admit it or not). J
