I recently bought a Farm-Maxx FTM-48G. This is a 48" all gear drive unit, 6 tines per flange, slip clutch, and about 450lbs. Farm-Maxx is the new brand name for Farmtrac implements. Don't know if they have dealers in all areas, but the quality seems real good. It was just under $1500. Just for comparison. I've used it three times so far on my JD455 diesel L&G tractor (18 pto hp), once in pretty nasty clay. I need better tires and some wheel weights, but otherwise it did just fine, rocks and all. However these were all small areas. If I end up doing much larger areas, I'll probably put it on my 2520 CUT. I also agree that compacted, virgin areas need to get broken up with a buster or BB scarifiers first. You never know where you'll find concrete chunks, car parts, massive tree roots, etc lurking just under the sod. I'm working on a job now where the entire yard is made of construction fill. I won't be using the tiller on this one.

I did get the KKII 48 inch. Cut the shafts a little tricky because it says cut off 3 inchs from bell and I called KK because I would not have 6 inches left over that it says you have to and the guy said only cut off one inch from it.
Another interesting thing he said was that tiller was too big for my tractor use the BX and I argued that the BX is a Cat 0 my neighbor has a BX drag box that I have borrowed and it has alot of sway in it. I have about 1.5-2 inches of play all the way up (shortest distance) I used it in the front of the house to start working on the yard and that KK is a beast hitting rocks sticks all kinds of crap and it doesnt miss a beat. I think it was well worth 995.

I have a BX2350, it is a true Cat 1 , not "0"
The lower links are 7/8" and spread fine to fit my CAT1 implements.
The top link is 3/4" , not 5/8" like a CAT "0".
I made sure of this before I purchased because I already had several CAT1 attachements. I didn't have to turn the pins facing inside either, which another thing I hear from time to time.

They may have offered older BX models as what they called "modified" CAT 1s, but since then, it appears they are now true CAT 1's.

It is amazing how KK keep insisting the 48" tiller is TOO BIG for many machines??

I will bet they had some problems, a few years back, with the Cat "0"s and haven't relooked at the situation. It's probably an insurance issue, or they had to pay out on a claim?

There are too many BX owners saying they have the KK TG48, and it works just fine.

Mine will be in today, or so they say.

I messed up its not BX its XB. Ya the drag box is a cat 1 but the width is a cat 0 it is not wide enough I am glad I resurched it before I bought one like the neighbor. I think the XB is more for the BX 1850 but not sure because I don't have one. I took a few Pics and when I can figure it out I will post.
