not going to tell u which tractor i like, not going to tell u which size you should get. only going to state that anything u do with a 2 wd machine can be done with 4wd. plus u have the advantage of 4wd when u need it. just MHO

That nh 3010s is a nice tractor.. I have been toying with the idea of 'biggie' sizing my 1920...

As another option, think a bit bigger.. and get a ford 7700.. about 85 hp, 2wd usually.. but it is liek a bull.. and these days older ag tractors go for pennies on the dollar.. in fact, you can usually get them cheaper than compacts.... there is a decent looking 1969 ford 8000 ( 105pto hp ) settiing down the road from me.. guy wants 4995 for it.... wife keeps telling me to get it.. but we've only got 13.2 acres.. and the darned thing is like 10 feet tall...!

If you could find a Ford 7700 in good shape, that would be a good tractor, I agree. We have had one since May 1990 and it's been a great tractor - we had to adjust the clutch one time and A/C compressor has locked up (it is a Cab tractor) and we are too cheap to fix it, but aside from that the tractor is great. I don't know exactly why, but aside from ours, four of our neighbors on the same road (within 2 miles of each other) all have 7700s, two with cabs and two without. They seem to be great tractors.

Ours has a hydraulic front blade. Not as handy as a FEL and not as strong as a bulldozer, but you can still do a fair amount of pushing of dirt, rocks or trees.

Thanks

I have always been told "it's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it". I will definitely keep 4wd in the equation.

Thanks

( Additionally I've been told that a compact tractor will be too small and to stick with one of the big 3 (JD, KB, NH).

)

Unless I am mistaken, How is the number one selling tractor in the world, (Massey Ferguson) not one of the "Big 3"????? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Hey Jerry,

I'm not sure if they are going to build the 243/263s anymore. They were Banner Lane tractors,which closed in December. I have not heard if Brazil or one of the licensees will be building that series or not.

...From my perspective Kubota is top in the mechanical refinement department followed by Deere then NH for the top three....

Why...? /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

What do you mean by mechanical refinement? And what makes Kabota the lead in that department.
