Kioti CK20S HST
I've got prices that are almost identical. One's a Kioti CK20S HST and the other is a TYM T273 HST. Both are priced with FEL and Backhoe. The TYM comes standard with QA and mid PTO. I priced the QA for the Kioti but no mid PTO.

With both being setup almost identically, only difference is the Kioti has no mid PTO, the price is within a few hundred. I'm guessing if I add the mid PTO to the Kioti, the price might end up the same.

For all intended purposes, lets just say the price is the same. So with that, which would you get and why? Does the extra 5 HP on the TYM make a big difference? could either manufacturer be either understating or overstating their stats? Is it better to go with Kioti because they've been here much, much longer with a longer track record in tractors?

I'll tell you this, my betterhalf only tells me I have to get a backhoe and either is ok with her. I showed my mother the tractors and she just says get the Kioti because she likes the way the color orange looked.

BTW, it seems the Kioti prices have jumped some and TYM dropped. I don't know if the CK20S is considered an '08 model, but the TYM is an '07.

I am a big fan of the TYM... was quite impressed with the machine. There is not much activity on the TYM site and I think it may be due to the fact that the tractors are pretty rugged. Kioti was nice as well, but three extra HP means something when you are talking tractors..

Thats a tough call, the backhoes are identical in dimensions and capacity and the TYM loader can lift about 300lbs more to full height. For the same price, the TYM seems to have a slight advantage in engine HP and loader capability, but add in the warranty and standard features of the Kioti and it gets closer.

I think the CK25 HST would be a better comparison. For a little more and probably still very close to the TYM price, you have a 25hp tractor with closer loader specs and a stronger backhoe. Plus the Kioti is much better looking... :D :D

I'd buy the TYM over the CK20, if prices about the same. Or I'd step up to the CK25/30, if I needed a bigger machine. The TYM is more manueverable and has slightly better specs than the CK20.

One additional factor in favor of the Kioti is the dealer network. Just like Kubota's have a bigger network then Kioti, the Kioti network is bigger than TYMs. That may not be important for service if you live near by a TYM dealer but as Bobcat now carries the CK20, you would not have any trouble getting parts or service.

Also, while it is no knock at all on the TYM tractor, I think you could expect better resale on the Kioti. I just traded in my CK20 TLB to a dealer after 2 years and 180hrs for 86% of what I paid for it. I don't know if the TYMs are well enough known yet to command that type of resale.

Both are nice tractors though.

IT:

You traded in your CK20? To Mike at Harvardpower or elsewhere?
I'm curious why -- getting something else?

I'm also wondering what is different about CK20S over CK20
It appears the CK20S is 22hp whereas if memory serves me correct the CK20 was 21hp.

Malk,

I'm not IT, but here's a thread he started on the reason why he gave up the CK20. Also, it didn't go with the 20S. I think he went with a DK40, but I'm not 100% sure.

I did trade in my CK20 TLB on a DK40se TLB. My needs changed after adding about 15 additional acres to my maintenance/land clearing chores. I was sad to see my trusty CK20 go but having approximately double the capacity has been real nice too.

There are relatively few changes between the 20 and 20S. One is 22 hp. It looks like a minor freshing up and certainly no reason to trade in a CK20.
