I have a Bx2670 with FEL and LP 48" BB.I need to know which would be easier or better to use clearing a concrete driveway of 12 or more inches of snow tomorrow.Been using, both of them a little over a year but never for snow. Most of all,the biggest question is how to convince the wife I will not (scrape) the concrete and mess it up:confused3:

Back blade will be faster, as it says on my Fisher plow " Always plow with the storm "
If you wait till too much piles up you will have to go with the loader. You can extend the top link on the 3pt hitch so the blade wont dig in or skip. Good luck, be safe & have fun !

If you have a piece if plastic pipe and a way to cut a slot, you can bang it over the FEL edge. Otherwise you'll most likely paint orange stripes into the concrete. That would be my choice at this late hour.

But if the snow fizzles out and you only get 4" or less, use the rear blade angled to push the snow off the edges.

My best advice is do not wait until there is 12 inches of snow to remove. It is a lot easier to move 4 inches 3 times than it is to move 12 inches 1 time. With that said, both the fel and the bb can be used to move snow if that is what you have to work with. You could do it with just one or the other, but in combination they will work even better. Snow is just like moving dirt, only easier since it is usually lighter in weight, unless it is extremely wet. Then it gets heavy. Just go at it and you will learn the best way to get the job done. I would not worry about hurting your cement with the loader or blade. The weight is spread over a wide area and probably won't even make a scratch. Good luck.

The scrape marks you make will disappear in short order, don't worry about them.

I used a combination of both for about 10 years on a BX. With 12" of wet snow you will need the loader because the windrow (snow piles) will build up and the back blade will become ineffective. Get as much moved with the bb as you can and then use the loader to push back the rest. Don't worry about the concrete too much just don't use the loader with down pressure and it should be fine.

Good luck and have fun!

I wouldn't do anything. It will melt in one day; and besides if you lose power down there, what's the sense in goin out: everything will be closed.
Hope you still got your power and you can read this.

Rear blade would be my choice too, unless you want to go for a loader mounter plow (look on the BXpanded website...and there are other similar loader mounted plows).
To minimize scraping marks, you can either plow in reverse or rotate the rear blade 180 degrees (minus any angling you want) and plow going forward. The convex side of the blade is much less likely to damage the asphalt.
Plowing in reverse can be problematic. Those lower link arms can be damaged if you hit a solid object (since there are no trip mechanisms). Also, the blade can ride up over the snow, if the snow is well packed.
Since you're in NC, you don't normally get winters as severe as this one. Consider that when purchasing snow removal equipment.

Where's the fun in that! This may be the only chance he ever gets to plow for a real snow storm. I say go for it! :) Sent from my iPad using TractorByNet

BB=Box Blade or Back Blade?

If your wife can't be convinced, just hand her a snow shovel.
