Once and a while a guy finds something in his way that's hidden and is cool, if you don't run it over and destroy something.... This is what I found while making a corner in a tight field more negotiable. I was just gunna shove the whole corner in a way till something just did not fit the picture, something very round in a wall of crooked brush. One of the better things I have found so far:D

Cool. And good thing you found it with your bucket. All the other ways I can think of to find it range from "annoying" to "emergency room".

Sandblast the blade and have the local artist paint a picture of you and the JD790. Well, at least the tractor.
Hang on the wall.

Ditto on the artwork, it would make a great shop decoration.

I had to laugh when I read your post because when I was out walking the woods yesterday I found a whole V8 motor laying next to a rock wall. I have mowed within 2 feet of that motor and never knew it was there :)

It looks like a small block from the 1970's or so. Rust has eaten through the valve covers.
Dave.

When I took off the end of my right thumb on a table saw, well, actually I fluted it with a fluting blade on the table saw, I started to dial 9-1-1. Then I remembered the mangled fingers on my grandpa's right hand. He had taken three of them off and had the fourth one hanging on by just some skin using a buzz like yours. He picked them up and walked out to the road and hitched a ride to the hospital.

So I wrapped up the thumb with a grease rag and drove myself to the hospital, walked in and told them that I thought I hurt myself. It was a family tradition kind of thing.

Nice find on the saw blade, I like the artwork idea mentioned. You will have a nice conversation piece to hang on the wall.

Did you ever think if your grandpa had had 9-1-1 available to him that he may have used it.

Here is what was found on my place back in 1971.

39 years ago back in 1971 i hired a dozer to grade off my 2.33 acres.
I have lived here since 1966.

The dozer operator found this spike harrow
burried in a bunch of weeds on the upper left side of my property .
When the dozer was finished I hired a local farmer to plow and disk it then hooked the harrow up tp my 1966 Bolens which i still have BTW and smothed and leveled everything out.
After i was done with the Harrow i put it away in the carport where it has remained for the last 39 years.
That's the end of my harrowing story and I'm sticking to it!

It was some where in the area around the base of the pine tree to the right of this building and the base of the white tree shown about the center of the little building.

Well, I would love to claim it:drool: but the buzz saw was actually on the neighbors piece my family has farmed for many years. I rooted it out of its hiding spot, old rotten board frame falling apart from the saw shaft, snapped pictures of it then carried it over to the neighbors yard. Pieces of Americana like this are a jewel. That saw probably cut the boards for the house that my neighbor inherited from his mom when she passed. He lives there mostly in the fall, mostly in hunting season:D

My granddad sawed some fingers too... things was different back then when a fella had to fell, buck, then buzz saw up the lumber for your house, barns or poles for the then "new" phone lines and electric power.

Looks like an old buck saw for cutting cordwood. Did it have a shaft and belt pulley?
