just an up date to my mahindra 2816 that seemed to whine a little extra and slow return on the hydro pedal. Stopped by the dealer today and started the same machine it sounded about the same but the pedal came back alot faster they are ordering the spring on the shaft that they say sometimes goes bad from sitting.they also gave me a gallon oy fluid

also they told me that some people use a thinner oil and it helps a lot was wondering if anyone has done that and if so did it work?

glade they gave you the fluid and i hope the new spring fixes the return problem. i just find hit hard to belive that just sitting there for a year caused that spring to go bad. i think once you get the proper amout of fluid in the system will help the return problem as well.

Sounds like that might be a design flaw with a substandard spring that stretches if they have had a few complaints. GOOD Springs shouldn't loose their tension unless overstretched or heated and certainly not setting in neutral position for years and years. It could be that they put too weak of a spring on at the factory and are replacing them only when warranted or someone complains. Check spring coil diameter and wire diameter of the new one compared to the old one when you get it and see if they are the same.

Did you try a little penetrant on the linkage and where the shaft goes inside of the side of the transmission housing? Lubricating the linkages is important and may just solve your problem.

The whining on the hydro is some what normal on that model, and it doesn't hurt a thing. The hydrostat on that model, almost never gives any problems.
