jinman, I going to use an electric fence laid out a little different next year. I found info on a college website that said it had worked for them. You put up an inner fence with a 36" high wire and an 18" wire. A second outer fence is located 3' from the first with one wire at 30". This setup supposedly worked for them. There will also be two more hot wires on the inner fence at 6" and 12" with a ground wire at 9". This is to keep the coons out of the corn. I got about 500 ears this year, they got about 200. Caught two of the little bandits and relocated them about 10 miles away.
My mother, garden on her place, had griped about not having any wildlife on her farm. We caught the two coons, shot a ground hog, chased deer and rabbits all summer.
Guess I'll have to dig a moat and fill it with gators. **** things would probably develop a taste for watermelons if I did.
Oh yeah, they also said to wrap aluminum foil around the electric fence wire and smear peanut butter on it. The deer and coons will lick it and get a shock to their mouths and run off. Know that would work on me.
