Bird, that was always my complaint about our old heat pump. I would creep the thermostat up so as not to force the heat strips on. I like a cold home at night especially in the bedroom. I think it is one thing I have finally convinced my wife is good as long as I warm up her side first.

Jim, our recent storm dumped almost 8-10 feet of snow up at our place in Tahoe. Its not done dumping.

Well, you kinda expect snow in Tahoe, but 10' with drifts can bury everything. That's like an avalanche from the sky. Is that the same storm that's dumping loads of rain in So. Cal?

Yeah Jim, same storm. It's pretty interesting to watch them clear roads like I-80. The snow blowers come after the plows to widen the road. In order to make that happen they sometimes have to lift the entire blower well off the ground to cut back the snow. There are times the cut snow on the side of the road is well above the top of a Greyhound bus.

How do wild animals survive in that much snow?
