I'd buy my Frontier BB4284H again. The only two drawbacks are that I wish it had replaceable lower sides, an option on the Gannon, because I can already see some wear down, and that it had tougher scarifiers. On the other hand I also broke another manufacturers scarifier so maybe nothing can withstand the power of my wee Kioti tractor. =)

Heres a Frontier BB1184 maybe 10 plus years I use to own . When I bought it in the plastic tube mounted on BB it said it was a Woods manufact .
Nowadays I counld'nt tell you.

I have a Woods HB72 that is built exactly like your blade except mine is a foot smaller width. My blade is about a 2010 year of manufacture.

I would be concerned about those scarifiers, as I recall you just bought that box blade and already every one of them is bent. My 10 year old box blade has all of them straight as new. Can you measure the cross section of the scarifier shanks?

Sure. When I head over there tomorrow I'll measure my shanks. Be nice to learn if something else fits.

After all it's been two days since I sheered a category 4 driveshaft in half and I haven't broken anything else since. Quite a dry spell at the proving grounds.

Shoot. I got distracted and forgot to measure. My bad.

I think Frontier suppliers come and go, so vintage is important in tracking down who made it, unless the manual has it listed. Odds are you can do a little research and get a nearly identical product from the original manufacturer for a bit less. I have a ~2006 vintage 2072 that I believe was a Worksaver with a couple modifications. I'll try and find the manual. JD has pretty high standards for welds and paint, and they are usually good products within the limits of their application ratings. At first it seemed to be more of a homeowner or hobby lineup, but now they are into a bunch of stuff. Subbing out the manufacturing and tacking on a premium must have worked well for JD.

The new box blade showed up at the dealers last week. Here's a few pics, it should last a lifetime with how well it's built.
