Who cares what color it is?

if I were a 'true" farmer where it was just a tool and I had multiple tractors I might feel differently

Boy you guys think that the brand wars are bad here you should be in on some of the farmer conversations!!!! Most farmers are pretty brand loyal.

Some of the people on here live in high dollar digs. Their wives would never talk to them again if they let the neighbors see them pulling a red finish mower behind a green tractor! Green behind orange? Can you say color clash? What if the house is backed up to the golf course where * everybody* can see it? Appearances must be maintained!!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I am not talking brand loyaly just aesthetics. I am really just talking about having the tractor look like a complete unit rather than a collection of other vendors parts.

I know many farmers are brand loyal, I am saying if they're not buying JD they probably wouldn't care if it is a green color in another brand. I would still prefer JD but if not I'd get a green 'someotherbrand" implement if needed.

While a farmer cares about sheer performance because this is a tool, I use my tractor for pleasure as well as work. Now I am not going to sacrifice quality for color or looks but I will pay extra ( a little)to have it at least look good even if it's not the true JD part.

That was my point.

Yes, if it were available in multiple colors and one matched the tractor (at the same price), I'd take that, but personally, I've never had that situation. My tractors were orange and the implements I bought happened to be red (not all the same shade of red), except for one yellow box blade. I took what they had without asking about colors. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif In fact, I'd have had a green brush hog if the John Deere dealer hadn't quoted such a ridiculous price. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I do prefer a matching brand of front end loader, regardless of color, but of course it usually matches.

Twice (in '86 and in '93) I've handled new car purchases by telephone; gave all the specs to get exactly what I wanted I thought. And then the person on the other end called me back to ask, "What color?"; the one thing that I hadn't thought of or mentioned. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif So I just called my wife and asked her what color she wanted. But she never had any interest in my tractors or implements. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I don't. I have a Long Landtrac (purple) with Long FEL and backhoe (black). My brush hog is a Rhino (redish-orange), my blade a Landpride (yellow), my carryall, subsoiler, and potato plow KingKutter (yellow), chipper, PHD, plow, and sicklebar (red).

I figure the dirt I dig/move, the brush/grass I mow, and the wood I chip don't care what color I use.

I guess this is what separates me from others -- I buy and do things for MY benefit, not the benefit or thoughts of others. I will pull a Rhino (red) mower regardless of what color my tractor may be.

( Is that really true? You go in order an implement that is availale in multiple colors including the one that matches your tractor and when the salesmen asks which one, you say "surprise me"? Come on now, be honest.
)

So far I have yet to see a dealer that carries the same implement ( brand, specs, size, duty..etc ) in different color schemes. Just can't think of one....

My implements range from red to yellow to black to rust.

I guess I'm one of the odd balls, but I actually prefer my implements being a different color than the tractor.

Now I don't mind that the loader and backhoe on mine came in the same orange color. I kind of like that, but also liked a tractor I saw recently at my dealers [a Cub ] that had black loader and backhoe hanging on it.

Come think of it, I'll bet that is why I have trouble finding the tractor when the backhoe and loader are on it! Everything being the same color makes it so confusing... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Glad they still make the the seats black! That's probably the only thing that saves me... /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Even then it is difficult though, when the backhoe is on. With two black seats I have to figure out which one is facing forward! Sure would be easier if the tractor and backhoe were different colors!

Bingo! Where's that paint brush??? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
