Who delivered your tractor

Delivery guy, possibly also a service tech. Nice fellow.

Here they are bringing back my dead 318 with the new 2305

My dealer has a couple trucks and a driver or two for deliveries. Here is the truck that brought mine taking the Kubota away.

I had to deliver my own.

I Borrowed a tandem axle trailer and the Dealer (service dept.) loaded it.
They used a chain to drag it up the loading ramp.
Then they used a real big JD with forks to unceremoniously lower/drop it on to my trailer.

It took them over 30 minutes to load it!
The trailer had high side rails.

I smiled the entire time.

...they thought it was broke...

They were wrong.
Best $200 tractor I've ever owned.:D

855idiot, Well, let's hear the story and what was wrong with your 855 that you got it for less that scrap price.

Here is a link to my story,

http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/john-deere-buying-pricing/110553-my-john-deere-story.html

It's true. I bought it thinking I would salvage the loader and part the tractor out.

I have about $600 into it now.
Alternator,
Battery,
Water pump,
Steering arm,

Still have not fixed the fuel shut-off solenoid...
I just put some rubber bands on it.

An 855 is a good solid tractor!
For a while after I bought it, a rear wheel was locking up.
Doesn't do it any more. Might have been a brake adjustment?

That's a surreal story, 855Idiot. I might actually have to stop in at a church for the first time in my life if that ever happened to me.

It's the diametrical opposite of the story I've had with my 318. I bought it for maximum market value a few years ago and now it's currently sitting in my barn sans a working engine. The P218 Onan is in pieces with a bad engine block (bad cam & crank bearing races due to some hackmanship in the tractor's tainted past). There are apparently few replacement engines to be found except for the $1500 Honda's on eBay or the 1800 hour junk smokers. I have far too much money and time invested in meticulous maintenance and service to just burp it away for its current $500 value; Sort of stuck between a rock and a hard place. Heck, I even bought a replacement John Deere emblem for the front of the grille as I was getting ready to repaint the sheet metal and a brand new battery which has now been sitting on a conditioner for the last year!

Picked up my 3038e myself. Had my truck and trailer with me when I inked the deal. It was raining cats and dogs. I'm talkin' Biblical Flood type rain. They gave me a five minute operator training and I was like, "Yeah, yeah... whatever. I'll read the manual. I'm getting wet here." LOL!!! Even drove it on the trailer myself because the mechinic had a look on his face that said he REALLY didn't want to get soaked!!!

First thing I did when I got home was read the Operator's Manual then order the Parts Manual and Service Manual from JD.
