Operator presence ... or seat safety.

?

Anyone who wants to avoid legal repercussions, in the future, would not admit to this in writing on a public forum...

Seeing as my tractor did not come with one I did not have to disable it!

Why would anyone disable a safety devise? I've personally witnessed a man loading a tractor on a trailer. Short little drive up, maybe 10 feet since the trailer was backed right up to the tractor. A little weight shifted, a tire blew out and that tractor tipped off the trailer, crushing him because he jumped the wrong way. It was obvious that if he had his seatbelt on, he'd be very much alive today. Sad.

Why ?
When one stands up to get a better view for safety - bam goes off
When one is on a incline and weight shifts - bam engine goes off
When one needs to be off of machine and use FEL control ( this is just real life) - bam the engine goes off

I could not immediately think of more reasons but am sure I could as time rolled on.

Like was said in a combat movie I watched once, Officer complained that the safety wasn't on a firearm, solider replied .. this safety is always on pointing to his head.:)

I have contemplated it on occasion but always decided that I need all the help I can get staying safe.

If you can't see where you're going, you might be going the wrong way.

When one is on a incline and weight shifts - bam engine goes off

Either you're driving your tractor on an incline that is likely too steep, or you really need to eat more.

When one needs to be off of machine and use FEL control ( this is just real life) - bam the engine goes off

Why in he** would you risk operating the FEL from the ground?

The only safety device I would like to change is the neutral safety interlock on my Hydrostatic BX.

It seems counter intuitive to have to shift the Hydro into neutral to restart and loose all front and rear wheel hydro braking.

My suggestion would be to have a neutral interlock momentary by-pass button.

I have disabled the Operator Presence switch on my 4200 so I could have the PTO going when I needed to adjust items on my 3PH sprayer. I also disabled the "Lawyer Switch" on my L130's RIO (Reverse Implement Operation) switch to allow mowing in reverse without activating the switch.

Note, I assume full responsibility for my safety or lack thereof by doing this. We also don't have children or pets. If we did, I may not have disabled these switches.

The Operator Presence switch on my L130 came in handy last week when I was mowing, and I misjudged a slope and slid off the seat. I'm glad the switch was there.

I am thinking of putting an Operator Presence bypass switch on my 4200 so it's active for most activities; but I can disable it for when I use the sprayer and need the PTO active whether I'm in the seat or not. Yes, I can activate the PTO from the ground; but it's a couple of extra steps to keep track of, and they are easily forgotten when one is concentrating on spraying.

If you disable the switch, please weigh the pros and cons before doing so.

on the rare occasion where I need to do this, on my tractor if you tip the seat forward, then tractor will run....have done this only once as I recall, can't remember exact operational sequence... refer to your owner's manual, I suspect that your tractor has a similar feature.

I agree with keeping feature operational....
