I have two Gravely's. One has a 30" brush hog on it and the other has a 50" deck. I had a Pro-16 with a 50" deck for a while (so I was at 3 Gravely walk behinds) but sold it to buy a zero turn. I didn't really like the Pro-16 (the handles were higher than on my old 5465 and 5665 machines) and I wasn't a fan of the twin-cylinder Briggs on it. Strangely though, I do like the look of the machine and I'm considering buying another one that I came across locally.

The reasons that I have more than one Gravely are pretty simple: 1) Backup - if one dies, I can use another one if I'm in a pinch; 2) I'm lazy - even though Gravely implements can be changed, sometimes that's a pain, so I like having a machine dedicated to a task; 3)Efficiency - sometimes you need two different implements for a job so it's easier to have two machines ready to go and get the job done in a more efficient manner.

I do have several other implements for the Gravely's, but rarely use them. I have a 48" Gravely blade, but I also have an FEL on the Deere. I have a Gravely rotary plow and a tiller/cultivator, but I also have 2 Ariens rear tine tillers. I was looking for a Gravely snow thrower, but decided against it since I already have a nice little singe stage snow thrower as well as a 72" blade for the Deere. I had to pat myself on the back for deciding against accumulating more "stuff".

One thing I will say is that if you're going to have "multiples", it makes more sense to have multiples of the same brand so things are interchangeable. In other words, BCS is a nice machine, but I'm not sure that I'd buy a BCS if I already had a Gravely. I'm sure you BCS owners would beg to differ though!
I love my Gravely's but when I was back to flush in 2012 after my factory shutdown in 2008 ,I couldn't find a Gravely that fit my needs at a price point I thought was fair. I was an hour from earthtools . After some research Grillo was the best deal for the money. Grillo tiller were the best period. So that is what I bought. The professional 12 I have is the best condition gravely I have ever seen. And the Price for the tractor witha snow blade was. $0 as in free. I have $200 in a mower deck so I can live with have 2 different brands of walking tractors

I have a smallish BCS (730 something?) with a tiller and a chipper/shredder I bought later that the BCS will barely drive if the limbs get too big. I should sell both and probably will.

I have Grillo 107d that I like a lot better. Larger, more powerful. I have a flail mower and sickle bar mower for it. I wish I could use the sickle bar mower but my ground is just too uneven to make any real progress with it.

When I retire I will probably get a larger Grillo with a diesel, or maybe a 4 wheel tractor of some sort.

EPA has pretty much outlawed small diesel engines they were using on walking tractors Earthtools does not list them on there website now. . As good as my Grillo G85d is at tilling I would love to spend some time behind a Grillo G131 with a 36 inch tiller but I don't have the money or space to justify it

Kohler still sells the small diesels. Those engines belong in pumps and generators. I had a 10 hp yanmar on a pump and loved it. Ran it 400 hours or so per year. I don't feel that anyone can run a walk behind enough hours to need a diesel. Those small Modern diesels are temperamental, in my opinon, and not worth it. Those honda engines can run forever, can be repaired by anyone, and can be replaced for pretty cheap too.

The gravelys, or at least the last model two wheels, would do much more if the axle locked. I know there is a professional walk behind with a locking axle, but it is the two speed, not two axle speed style. I have heard of conversions for the L tractor to permanently lock the axle. Maybe some day I'll get serious about looking into it.

My Grillo g85d has a locking differential. Most Grillos and BCS 2 wheel tractors have locking differential
