Who has worked with a JD Backhoe

i have a 3120 with a 375 hoe and it performs great , i can operate multi-functions without a problem it does take a little getting used to though. It gets a little jerky if the rpms are above 1500 and you're working off to the side .

I have a 46 on a 2520 and can do a left and a right controller function at once but they will both be slower than normal.

I borrowed a mini-excavator a while back and it had the nicest control, dig, up and out with one smooth motion moving the jog stick around in a circle - just had to be careful not to put the whole excavator over on it's side.

As I said you can just sort of do two functions at once, but it appears to be the functions on the same valve. If I try to do a function from each valve it's no go. I get one or the other.

One episode illustrates my situation:... as I was booming right, I wanted to lower the stick. The BH stopped the boom right and only allowed me to lower the stick, then when it was low enough I eased up on that control and the boom right kicked again but it was SUPER FAST! I overdid it and crashed hard against the right bumper. I thought I was moving fast enough to break something! That was the moment I decided to bring this topic up to the forum and...... to stop trying to use two controls at the same time.

I have done what you're describing with my JD110 backhoe. (And with a Bobcat 430, 435, JD 50, 120, 200 and Komatsu 138 excavators, too. The valve bodies on excavators are different BUT you can get OVERCORRECTION with hyd functions.)

The key is to NOT have one function FULLY engaged while using another function.

Attempt to engage both functions mid-way or so (bleeding hyd power to both) and when one or the other function reaches the end of travel - the other simultaneous operation doesn't IMMEDIATELY get full hyd flow and OVERSPEED!

Of course, I still get distracted with something or other - and have one lever or the other maxed out - and when it reaches the end of function travel; the other motion can JUMP, and I'll cuss myself for not paying attention...
