It seems to me that it goes in cycles. The cycle to me is when you can't sell a tune anywhere else you can prob sell it on the country side if you package it right. I thought there might be a certain predictable time frame but I don't think so. I thought maybe 20 years then maybe 10 years ... doesnt seem to fit a time frame but it is a cycle maybe to do with people's tolerence. Country is country. There's some on the air now. There's also some rap crap packaged as country. I listen to the news and just sample the current tunes then buy or steal those that fit for my personal collection. Sorry, gotta go ... the dishes are not yet rattling in my cabinets /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

There's a "new" country station trying to take root in the city where my girlfriend lives ... while we were, umm, listening to the radio, Hank Sr., came on ... I said, "finally, some country music" ... I made no extra points. I don't even care which Hank ... Sr., Jr., Snow, Thompson ...
I'm enjoying Junior Brown, Semi Crazy, right now while smelling the last breath of a nice wildfire a few miles down the road ... life don't get much better ... oh and sippin' some homebrew /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

“I like both kinds of music, country & western!” LOL My wife loves country I personally can’t stand it. I will take anything but that stuff. It is the same story all the time, boring.

I also am not a rap fan, they have no music talent I feel compared to good-old rock, but make more from the kids in one year then most people do in a lifetime….for some odd reason.

I used to think the same thing, but now see country music as telling the story of American life. I'm an old rocker (41) and have grown tired of the pi**ed off at life screaming rantings of the head-bangers of today.

Country music is America and the story of American life. Its about joy, tragedy, friendship, love, loyalty to family God and nation. It is about life, death, mom & dad, brother, sister, your best friend, your children, grandchildren, your pick-up truck, tractor and your dog. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif It is about childhood memories and the girl that broke your heart and the girl who stayed with you through thick and thin, till death do we part. Country music is about the veterans who willingly gave their lives so we can live free and musicians can play what they choose and we can choose to listen...or not. That's not boring. That's America!

Today's country music singers are nothing but a bunch of skinny women singing covers of 70's and 80's rock and roll songs and pretty boys in cowboy hats.

It's sad to say that Hank Sr and Patsy Cline would never make it today, because they don't have the right "look".
