Who killed country music?

Every local public radio affiliate is different. Ours (KERA) used to play a lot of music, now it plays almost none.

Wow ,
I am impressed!!! I honestly don't know how you guy's know what kind of music you're listening to without seeing the person singing on the record cover ,these days ! Heck, unless I see the guy or gal singing the song and wearing a cowboy hat ,I can't figure out what kind of music it is half the time !!! So many bands and groups are crossing over from pop to country charts and back that I am in a constant state of confusion . Now I heard Willy is coming out with a Reggae album . Good lord , what next!!!
I guess I will go find my old pair of white shoes with the matching belt ,that old cowboy hat and my tye die t shirt and sit down in my silk smoking jacket ,smoke a good Cuban and have a shot of Jack Daniels while listening to a little Lynard Skynard . You boys go ahead without me.

( Well, sometimes you can't tune it out if you are in a public place and they are playing it over an intercom,or if you are at work and the radio is on and someone else wants to listen to modern country.
I don't think it is in regards to respecting peoples values or not respecting them.I think it is a matter of personel preference. )

That goes both ways there I do believe. I can stand stuff I don't really care for as long as it's not so loud that my wife can't hear me talk across the table. Heck I even break down once in awhile and have fun trying to follow the beat of hip hop from time to time while hearing it in public. When I do the wife laughs and when she does I'm sure to try even harder to embarrass her. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Just got back after being out of the loop for a few days. So here's my 2 cents. Country music dead? Thank God!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Story of life? Man, if my life was that bad, I'd commit suicide. I'm speaking of the newer crap in the last 15 years or so. Johnny Cash, and others like Hank Sr. were very good. But now, caca!!! I'm an old rocker from day one, but even some rock that's going around is trash too. The newer so called country is nothing but "White Rap". IMO it doesn't even deserve to be called music other than the instruments being used do produce music.

My partner in crime is addicted to this crap. So bad in fact that, that when we're working, there is no radio on, I can't stand his version of rap, and he can't stand Pink Floyd for some reason!! /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif Just to stir the pot a little more, I've began to thank people when in a store at the checkout. I usually say thankyou for not automatically assuming EVERYONE likes country.

If YOU like country, fine, but not in my truck, house, or over my divorce papers, dead dogs grave, etc, etc. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Rock, Country, whats that? I threw my FM dial away many moons ago and have been a fan of talk radio ever since. Give me political, law, gardening, financial, health, real estate, current events and more anytime, I can go home and listen to my music, at my level without commercial or DJ interuption and really enjoy it. I can even listen to my favorite music over and over. Try it, you might like it. I won't matter that way if you hate country and love RAP, no one will have to know. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

She was one of the first sex theripsts to have a talk show. Never listened to her show but I've seen her on the TV talk show circut. Short little ole lady with a very strong accent. She can be funny the way she'd talk about sex.
