For many, many years now my wife and I have our teeth cleaned twice a year. Of course we now have dental insurance that pays for it. And we were accustomed to dental hygienists until we moved back to town 5 years ago and now the dentist we use does it himself. I guess he does a good job, and he's sure faster than the hygienists were.:D

And like lots of folks from my generation, I used to have a fear of dentists. I was 7 years old when I had a bad toothache in a jaw tooth, and I also had chicken pox at the time. So our dentist, Dr. Ball, didn't want me brought to his office because I might spread the chicken pox. Instead, he came to the house. Now that needle he stuck in there hurt, then after a few minutes he got hold of that tooth with his pliers and wiggled it and asked me if that hurt. It did, but I said no because I didn't want him to stick that needle in me again.:D So he pulled that tooth. Wow! So I avoided dentists for many years if at all possible.:D

Yeah, when my dentist gives me shots he first puts some lydicane/novican (I'm not sure) on a que tip and sticks it on the spot where he is going to shoot me. He leaves it there for a few minutes and then pokes the spot with a dental pick. If I feel it, he puts the que tip back for a few more minutes. If I don't feel it, he shoots me! :)

Funny story:
I have an extra root and nerve on each of my molars. Guess how we found that out?:eek::eek:

I think that's kind of the standard way now, David, and there's little, if any, pain. But our dentist has real nice big color picture in his office that I like. It's an outdoor shot of a dentist's office and a sign that says "Painless Dentistry" and there's a little boy with his graffiti writing "LIAR" on the wall.:D

Hahahaaa! That's funny.

My dentist's office has the whole wall at the foot end of the chair walpapered in a woodland scene from floor to ceiling. It is a beech forest and goes back very deep. Pretty neat.

My dentist is part of a Co-op program for dental hygenist's that have recently completed course requirements through Univ. of Louisville School of Medicine. He obviously has a propencity towards well endowed blondes. I feel no pain......that I notice anyway.

Gee, It's been 2 weeks since I had my teeth cleaned. Better make another appointment!

After all of our family dental work that I mentioned above, mom and dad could not afford braces for us, either. The new dentist realized that, and showed us how by chewing on a wooden tongue depresser in a very specific manner and at a very specific angle, we could move our own teeth around. DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME! :) However, we bought several boxes of tongue depressers and by holding it at the angle suggested by the dentist I had to bit down on it over and over again until the end was splintered and gooey. Then, flip it over, move to the opposite side of my mouth, put it between the teeth at the angle again and start gnawing away. We looked like a bunch of beavers every night before bed gnawing away on those things! :) Low and behold, after a few weeks of this, our teeth started fitting together better. That went on for about a year. Every few weeks we'd stop by and he'd inspect our teeth and he'd give us a different angle and pair of teeth to work on. My teeth still fit together nicely to this day. :D:D:D:D:D

He sounds like a cross between dentist, chiropractor, physical therapist.

I was having trouble with my teeth for years and the dentist coulden't figure out why till I walked in with a tywrap in my mouth bingo I was chewing on them while at work and the were moving my teeth. Except I must have had the wrong angle..
