Who makes a decent chainsaw?

I got screwed on mine then /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif I bought a 044 from dealer that was going out of business. Said he was selling them for his cost? I bought two 044's and paid as I recall about 350/each.

I've never seen a decompression on a Stihl, but then again, I've never looked. (maybe I OUGHT to look when I get home maybe??? /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif)

I bought these two years ago. Gave the other one to brother in law for birthday. Boy did HIS eyes light up when he saw that!

Grant,

I've got two Echo saws and never a problem with them either. Always start and run great, and have taken their share of abuse over the years. Anyone know who makes the PRO-SERIES chainsaws for John Deere? Looks like they might be by Echo too.

Wife's stepdad and his brothers all have Husky. Make a living with them. Back in southern VT Jonsered's very popular and Dolmar is around too.

Up here in ME (the pine tree state) there are a lot of STIHL dealers.

Baileys, which carries a lot of quality chainsaw-related products and other forestry and arboreal items in their catalogs, features Poulan and Echo.

I'm afraid that these chainsaw viewpoints will have the same fate as what would happen if you chained up all the lawyers in the world end to end: they would never reach a conclusion.

Ive got an old sthil 24" bar and have had good service with it as well and its had plenty of use.....would I buy another one if
I needed to replace it....yep.....is it what I consider the best saw out there......cant say, but if I had another one do as good as what I have would I feel the same about that brand.....yep

Richard it's a black switch on top of the the saw. You push it straight down.

NO, they are not all about the same quality. About all that the loggers and us forestry types use in the western US is STIHL. But, get a pro model stihl. The non-pro models are not as durable.

Dan, if you want a lighter saw than that 046, get an 036 pro. I got one of these with a 20 inch bar and it sure runs sweet. And pretty light as well.

Hey RPM, I heard that your poulan will not leak as much oil if you loosen and then retighten the oil reservoir cap (to let the air pressure out of the chamber) when you are done with it. I don't know if it works or not but I thought I would pass it on.
